LSU junior defensive back Donte Jackson has been named second team All-America by Sporting News. Per LSUSports.net:
quote:

Jackson, from Marrero, Louisiana, started 11 games for the Tigers in 2017, racking up 45 tackles to go along with 10 pass breakups and an interception. He ranked eighth in the Southeastern Conference in passes defended with 11.

Two of his top performances in 2017 came against Auburn and Arkansas. In LSU’s 27-23 win over Auburn, Jackson broke up four passes, including three on Auburn’s final drive, to help secure the win for the Tigers.

Then against Arkansas, Jackson recorded a career-best seven tackles, including a sack, two tackles for loss and a pass breakup in the 33-10 win over the Razorbacks.

In the Ar-Kansas game he had to make up for his lack of plays in the Alabama game.

Teams rarely threw at D. Jackson. They moved him back and forth to safety to get him more opportunities to be around the ball. I think he could improve his craft by coming back, but he will get drafted first 3 rounds.

I like Jackson and his speed, but All American? Don’t think so. Misses too many tackles and gives up the deep ball way too much. The good news is he has unlimited potential. The bad news is he won’t be able to fully develop it because he’s probably going pro(especially after being named All American), and will have to perform right away. I would love to see him back for his senior year, and make the improvements he needs to be a 1st. rd. pick, and help the Tigers either way.

Have to agree Lexman, All American? no way, the All American of the Defense is D White. Jackson is a good college corner, although he gets trucked every game. Don't see a pro future at all, 180lbs wont cut it.

His pro career may resemble Jalen Collins bc he is going to have to find some way to bulk up.

hmmm... Donte is a great tiger but he was a liability sometimes in coverage. Much better safety/nickle than a CB
