LSU linebacker Devin White joined "Off the Bench" on 104.5 ESPN Friday morning and talked about his decision to play in the Fiesta Bowl instead of skipping it to prepare for the NFL Draft.
quote:

"It wasn't a tough choice at all," White said. "Everybody thinks I'm going to the NFL but I'm really all the way in at LSU and I haven't even started making a decision yet. If I was to say I wasn't playing, that means I've made a decision."

"I want to finish the season and end on a good note. Then I want to start talking to my family to make a decision. But right now I'm focused on passing my finals and getting ready for the bowl prep."
The Butkus Award winner also was asked about his upcoming decision about the NFL Draft. White is expected to be a top pick in the draft but said he is not going to rush his decision until after the Fiesta Bowl.
quote:

"I might give it a week or so (after the Fiesta Bowl) because I'm not in a rush," White said.

"I'm happy where I'm at. I love the state of Louisiana. I love all my coaches, all my friends, and family around here. I love my teammates. So, I'm not in a rush. I just need to talk to whoever I need to talk to. I need to ask Coach O what I need to look for, my pros and my cons. At the end of the day, I'm not out. I'm still at LSU, and it'll be an easy decision because I've got the right people around me to help me make it. So It's not like I'm some 20-year old kid making this decision by myself. I have a lot of great people around me that are going to help me make it."

Kid is the next Ray Lewis. He will be a pro bowler for most of his NFL career. The crazy thing is he hasn’t even mastered the technical aspects of his game, being self aware is a true blessing and he will only get better and better.

If you’re a guaranteed first rounder you should always go in the draft. Ten out of ten times you should take first round pay. I would be surprised if he came back.

He's definitely going to go. He's just trying to say the right things so as to not draw attention away from the team before their bowl game. Great ambassador to LSU.

Class act since day 1...the type of player that make LSU look good to the rest of the country. His mom & dad should be proud of the young man they brought up. Wish you all the best, Devin!

He seems truly good people. That said, if he’s top 10, and especially if he’s top 5, can’t see him staying.

He sounds like he wants to stay more than he wants to leave, he may just enjoy the college life and wants to soak up as much as he can while he can. Good luck Devin but selfish me wants to see you back I think we can be special next season

Love. This. Dude. If I were part of his circle I’d tell him he absolutely needs to go, but he’s doing this 100% the correct way.

Head firmly screwed on right. What a smart kid. He’s fast on his way to becoming a very smart grown up, and one that will probably make much fewer mistakes along the waythan others who aren’t as deliberate or wise.

"But right now I'm focused on passing my finals and getting ready for the bowl prep.". This, ladies and gentlemen, is what it means to be a "student-athlete."
