Devin White Comments On Playing In The Fiesta Bowl & His Upcoming NFL Draft Decision

LSU linebacker Devin White joined "Off the Bench" on 104.5 ESPN Friday morning and talked about his decision to play in the Fiesta Bowl instead of skipping it to prepare for the NFL Draft.

"It wasn't a tough choice at all," White said. "Everybody thinks I'm going to the NFL but I'm really all the way in at LSU and I haven't even started making a decision yet. If I was to say I wasn't playing, that means I've made a decision."

"I want to finish the season and end on a good note. Then I want to start talking to my family to make a decision. But right now I'm focused on passing my finals and getting ready for the bowl prep."

The Butkus Award winner also was asked about his upcoming decision about the NFL Draft. White is expected to be a top pick in the draft but said he is not going to rush his decision until after the Fiesta Bowl.

"I might give it a week or so (after the Fiesta Bowl) because I'm not in a rush," White said.

"I'm happy where I'm at. I love the state of Louisiana. I love all my coaches, all my friends, and family around here. I love my teammates. So, I'm not in a rush. I just need to talk to whoever I need to talk to. I need to ask Coach O what I need to look for, my pros and my cons. At the end of the day, I'm not out. I'm still at LSU, and it'll be an easy decision because I've got the right people around me to help me make it. So It's not like I'm some 20-year old kid making this decision by myself. I have a lot of great people around me that are going to help me make it."

talked to his family before and after the TAMU game, he is definately going in the draft, i could sense his family is pressuring him very hard... the really sad thing is, (and I have nothing to base this on but my gut) I dont think he is ready to leave. I think he is comfortable in the college life, and has things where he wants them in life right now... and I can relate to that... I know that he will turn pro, as he should. Im just happy that he represents LSU in a first class manor and plays his heart out for his team... I tell you this much, he is now tied for my favorite tiger of all time... with Jarvis Landry... Quiet, not boisterous, respected, feared by many...

Ever since Devin white came on the scene there has been nothing not to like about him. What a great guy. I'm really happy he chose to be an LSU Tiger and wish him all the luck in the NFL.

These recruits who commit/de-commit/commit to schools need to take a lesson on commitment from DW... This is the ultimate example of honoring a commitment. It is refreshing to see a young man with so much at his fingertips handle the situation in this manner.
