John David Mercer-USA TODAY Sports
Clemson coach Dabo Swinney was on ESPN’s First Take on Thursday morning and was asked who he would draft first: Joe Burrow, Trevor Lawrence or Tua Tagovailoa?

To no surprise, Dabo picked his guy Lawrence but said he was really impressed with Burrow. Per 247Sports:
quote:

“I’m always going to choose my guy. I’m biased,” Swinney said. “If you had asked me when Deshaun Watson was coming out, I thought he should have been the No. 1 pick. That was my pick then. That doesn’t mean I’m right but I’m always trying to support my guys.

“I’ll tell you what, Joe Burrow is an unbelievable player. I was so impressed with him. I was impressed getting ready for the game, but after the game just watching him live, he’s a special talent. …But I’ve only coach Trevor. If I was on the other side, I’m taking my man T-Law for sure.”
Burrow passed for 463 yards and five touchdowns in the National Championship vs Clemson while Lawrence passed for 234 yards and zero touchdowns.

What a stupid question to ask. Of course he would pick his own guy when they are as close as they are.

Agree. Are we that desperate for sports? What a stupid question. Dabo would have been an idiot not to answer the way he did. 42-27

That's what he should say and that's what I would expect him to say. Trevor is back next year and he has to support his guys, always.

He all but said Burrow is the better QB, and he can't tell you that.

If he didn't realize Joe is by far the better player, he wouldn't be fit to coach JV ball. But Dabo is much smarter than that.

Of course he’s going to pick his QB. He’d be an idiot not to.

Would be weird if he didn’t name his own current QB

It's funny though the way he said it sounds like he would definitely take burro. The way he points out that he's doing his best to support his guys
