As new LSU coach Brian Kelly continues to round out this staff, we learned Wednesday that offensive line coach Brad Davis is being retained, while longtime defensive back coach Corey Raymond is headed to Florida.

Here's how some of the players reacted to the news on Twitter:

Brian Kelly needs his own people and in all fairness the LSU secondary has been terrible for the last 2 years. DBU was not made by Cory Raymond and LSU will be DBU without Cory Raymond.

Yes, the talent is there but the confusion and blown coverages game after game have been ridiculous

When a new CEO takes over a corporation, he needs people who are aligned with him and he can trust. If they are not 'lock step', doesn't matter how talented they are. . . .Time for a change....GEAUX TIGERS!

With all the news lately about player transfers and coaching changes it would appear LSU football is a mess. Quite the contrary a purge is necessary and warranted to stabilize a sinking ship. Captain Kelly is completely comfortable with the comings and goings.

Anyone who says that Corey Raymond and Mickey Joseph aren’t big losses is just fooling themselves.

What has Joseph done that can’t be replaced?

Yeah well both are replaceable. Apparently some of y’all think Corey Raymond was a Head Coach or something. If you watched the Secondary in the last 2 years and were impressed by their play and dedication then you are delusional. LSU’s pass defense in 2020 & 2021 was anything but DBU. Stop kidding yourself. LSU was horrible in pass coverage and guess who was the DB Coach. Have a reality check.

Liking Dwight Mc more and more. He stepped up his game in a big way this season. He has the size/length and skills to be that 'next' guy. GT!

Sometimes change is good, but not always. I think Coach Raymond has been doing one helluva job recruiting DBs for LSU. His work in off season with Acadiana athletes will be a huge loss for LSU.

How do we know Raymond wasn't a priority? Maybe he's pissed and not getting a shot at DC... or he ran for more money.

No one doesnt think its a loss! However we dont know that LSU tried to keep him, and he wanted more! Every coach can be replaced, and many times with even better one. Thanks to CR for his 10yrs! Lets move forward.

He's a good coach, but if we hold on to everyone from the past, then we should have kept miles for 10 more years. Change happens, it inevitable. Probably have another mediocre season next year to work the kinks out, then come strong in 2023.

Just not a well thought out opinion : You should never "Throw out the baby with the bathwater"

He is NOT a good coach. He is a great recruiter. Nothing more.

If Kelly told him he wasn't being retained that is one thing but if he went to UF for more money or to be assist head coach of the defense (what the frick is that anyway?) then he's a traitor and he can suck it.

He made the decision to leave LSU and is now Tiger bait. Adding Frank Wilson and retaining Brad Davis is huge. LSU will be fine regardless.

Corey Raymond was the worse coach on staff and that includes Peetz. He has been protected by other coaches including Jones taking over fork him this past season. All you have to do is look at 2020 with Bo allowing him to control things on the back end. Bausch and others had to take over in the past. That is why Aranda never made a play for him.
