Stephen Lew-USA TODAY Sports
Former LSU and current Kansas City Chiefs running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire had his rookie stock shoot up significantly this week when Chiefs starting running back Damien Williams announced that he was opting out of the 2020 season. Per PFF:
quote:

Before the Williams news, Edwards-Helaire already had two ingredients for success: talent and schematic fit. The Chiefs' first-rounder was the fourth-ranked running back in the PFF 2020 NFL Draft Guide, where Mike Renner compared his skill set to Ray Rice.

The only uncertainty was whether CEH would be splitting time with Williams or eased into the primary role. With Williams out of the picture, CEH climbs into my second tier of running backs (RB1 with a path to elite utilization but unproven). He is my sixth-ranked running back.

I’m happy for him, what a great guy that’s worked his arse off.

One of the most notable over achiever LSU may have ever had. Worked for everything he has gotten to this point. Numerous impact memories, but one that sticks out is the last FD in the game with the gumps to seal the victory and exorcise the curse.

this kid is already a fan favorite in KC. I have a friend who moved there last month and it’s the hottest jersey in demand....behind their quarterback obviously

Goddamn, I'm glad for Clyde. Being a sheep just cost that starting RB his job. Clyde's absolutely going to FEAST in that scheme.

I just hope he has stayed in condition and doesn't have the same fate befall him as Guice did. I don't know if Guice got injured due to off season conditioning or not, but I know it can be a cause of early season injuries.
