Thomas B. Shea-USA TODAY Sports
CBS Sports ranked all the head coaches in the Power Five conferences from No. 1 to No. 65 and LSU's Les Miles landed at No. 7. He was the second highest ranked SEC coach behind Alabama's Nick Saban (No. 1).
quote:

7. Les Miles, LSU (Last year: 4): Miles was almost fired after last season, and depending on whom you want to believe, the only reason he wasn't was that the school couldn't afford to do it. While the last two years have not been up to the standards Miles has helped set at LSU, he's still ranked this high because he does still have that national championship and two SEC titles under his belt.
Here is the top 10 from CBS:

1. Nick Saban, Alabama (1)
2. Urban Meyer, Ohio State (2)
3. Gary Patterson, TCU (5)
4. Bob Stoops, Oklahoma (3)
5. Mark Dantonio, Michigan State (15)
6. Jimbo Fisher, Florida State (8)
7. Les Miles, LSU (4)
8. Dabo Swinney, Clemson (22)
9. David Shaw, Stanford (20)
10. Jim Harbaugh, Michigan (9)

Seriously, whose better than Patterson on that list? TCU was mid major to national power house (Consistant top 10 school).

I'd have Dabo over Miles and Dantonio as of right now, but really 3-6 (with Dantonio as 7), are interchangeable IMO. People don't give Jimbo much credit, but he's been sending kids early to the NFL at a clip almost as fast as Miles over the last few years and he's also in a rare place with so many returning starters. Patterson took TCU from nothing (well Franchione did have that one good year and bolted immediately), and made them a modern powerhouse. He did that in 3 different conferences and he changed and developed along the way. Still, If Miles wins a national championship this year, it will automatically bolt him up to #3. No other coaches' resumes but Urban and Saban would match or exceed.

Harbaugh too high... (not that I don't believe he can't coach, he just needs to prove it in the NCAA before he's a top 10 candidate)

Why have Stoops so high?

Patterson too high. Stoops has a natl championship and has played for several others so I can see that but Dantonio hasn't done enough to earn that ranking.
