The LSU coaching staff has finally extended an offer to in-state tight end Danny Lewis.

Lewis, a 6-5, 235-pound prospect from New Iberia, La. (Westgate HS), committed to play for Cincinnati back in September but reopened his recruitment this week. Newly hired LSU offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock was Lewis’ main recruiter at Cincinnati.

Lewis was also recently offered by Florida and plans to visit Gainesville next weekend.

We sure could use some fresh TE talent and actually use them for a change. That offense Les Miles ran would have been extremely affective had he recruited a dual threat TE. One who can block and be a match up nightmare on 3rd down or red zone situations. Add the fact that we have Boutte, then added another Marshall type WR with great size to box out, good athletic ability to move/jump high and we’d have another WR core like 2019. The tall WR doesn’t even need to be fast, just fluid and athletic to jump and use his body. We have plenty of speed if that’s a need. Add and legit run game with an even better LOS than in 2019 and we’d be scoring lots of points. Everyone already knows that lsu will bring defense when challenged, no matter what. Now that we have the coaches to get this organized, recruit the right players to put people in the right spots and we’ll be a tough team even next year! Things have to fall into place but it can easily be done!

This kid tore it up in the 4A championship. Does a great job of finding the ball and has very good speed.

6-5 235 pound ball catcher - that's a mismatch you want on your side of the ball.

He might grow another inch and be 6'6", you know he'll put on 20 pounds by whomever is Kelly's strength guy. I almost said Moffitt.

Really underrated kid, at least watching his tape. He's hard to bring down and has enough speed to go the distance. Denbrock loves utilizing TEs (his TEs are almost always top e in receiving on the team), and being the TE coach also, he has a great eye on the position.

Yeah, not good enough just like Foster Moreau huh? Every 3 star isn't great but there are very very good 3 stars

5*s are great and all, but there's nothing tougher than a kid that grew up dreaming of playing for LSU and finally getting that opportunity. Home state 3*s are gonna fight to win. That's just my thoughts.

They’re gonna fight to win, yes. A team full of those home state 3 *’s are going to fight and lose often. You gotta have the elite players in order to keep up. Toughness and childhood dreams are all fine and good. They’re not enough.

They want to be here. To represent.

We are in a rebuild Nix. You need those 3 stars that may stay for 4 years and build upon them. So someone like Lewis will be doing all the rt things as a Sr so the younger guys can look up to. Now they just see the older players quitting and bailing on the team. Got to start somewhere to fix the culture.

Could be like another Louisiana three star, Justin Jefferson

This is your typical LA 3 star that has raw talent and could end up being a special player

Orgeron was doing a poor job of recruiting in Louisiana.

This is a kid that I am really baffled was never offered by prior regime. I guess they locked in Johnson and said forget it. This is why we need to focus on in-state kids.

People assume a 3 star can’t develop? Maybe the 3 star will get teaching and coaching and develop.
