Four-star running back target Harold Joiner from Birmingham, AL (Mountain Brook) has eliminated LSU from his recruitment, according to Sam Spiegelman with SEC Country:
quote:

Joiner, who was planning to commit to the Tigers on Saturday, Jan. 6 at the U.S. Army All-American Game, has eliminated LSU from contention.

“It was going to be LSU. I was [supposed to commit], but they stopped talking to me and I don’t know why,” Joiner told SEC Country at U.S. Army Game practice on Monday. “I was shocked, kind of heartbroken. I was ready to go to that school, but I guess they didn’t want me.”

“They loved me. They were in my house talking about family, staying overtime and then they didn’t answer,” Joiner recalled of the December in-home visits. “They were supposed to call me on the early signing period about what they wanted to do, but they didn’t call. I tried to contact coach Tommie Robinson, but no one answered.”
LSU currently has two running backs signed for the class of 2018 in 4-star prospect Chris Curry and three-star prospect Tae Provens.

Or when he commits to Bama he gets five stars

Why did he wait to commit if he was so solid to LSU?

Damn, that’s not cool at all. If you don’t want the kid, be a man and tell him.

Two things I know for sure. 1) This is the dark side of recruiting we often don't hear about. 2) There is more to this story.

Regardless of what anyone feels about our coaching staff. If we really wanted this guy and believed we had a shot at him, we would be in constant contact with him. I’m not buying Joiner’s story. He’s probably going to sign with Bama or Auburn, and just wanted to add a little intrigue to it all. I also mentioned earlier the possibility of Guice telling O he’s returning next year, thereby eliminating the need for Joiner and freeing up another scholarship for a position of need. I don’t think that’s the case, but Derrius is of high character and is all about the LSU program, so it wouldn’t surprise me at all.

"I tried to contact coach Tommie Robinson, but no one answered." Really hope this is not the case / more to the story.

I really doubt that story!

I hope this is exactly the case! ...Tommie was too busy recruiting future Tigers to deal with his shady arse.

This is the effect of the hard cap on recruiting and the early signing period. Bird in the hand beats two in the bush... He could have signed on Dec 20 like everyone else. We have been the poster child for being left at the altar on NSD and I have no sympathy here. Also makes me think that Noah Cain is realistic for next season. I am sure it would be a problem if we brought in three RB's this season and then tried to convince him to come in next year...

Well, I was supposed to sleep with Jenifer Aniston, but then she didn't ask me so I couldn't. BUT, if the had asked me too (like LSU asked Joiner to commit) I sure wouldn't have waited until she rescinded the offer!

Good comparison. How bout Hope Beel?

the whole thing sounds a little fishy to me...no way he was that fired up and certain and chose not to sign on signing day. he either never had a committable offer or is just being a drama queen.

That's what I'm saying. This seems like a recruiting trick to make it look like LSU doesn't care about recruits. Maybe that LSU cares even less than a certain program that gives away a commit's scholarship on NSD and offers a grayshirt instead?

wish him well, but he dragged his feet, LSU did not leave this young man out in the cold......not exactly looking forward to playing against him either. Geaux Tigahs

Wait, wasn't there another recruit last year that said the same thing that signed with Bama, Auburn, or UGA? Something smells fishy, like he was coached into it.

Guys from Bama always do that! They say they coming to LSU then sign with someone else at the last minute and leaves us weak at that position. I honestly think that is a plot going on within that state. If you wanna be a tiger, sign on the dotted line! Don't pout like a little school girl if no one is massaging your ego!

Well, this is actually a good sign for LSU. Us passing on joiner pretty much says that we are getting jamarr chase, joseph, surtain jr, and goodrich. We should take jamarr chase over harold joiner everyday of the week! Hell yes, this class is going to end up being very solid , especially with coach O addressing immediate team needs with a bunch of studs. Our wide reciever haul is epic. With Brennan slinging the ball all over the field next season to these bunch of recievers is going to be fricking awesome. Our passing attack is going to be legit to say the very least, with brennan having weapons like marshall, chase, giles, etc...It will be the best passing game the LSU has had since mett throwing to odell and jarvis. Our rushing attack will be better than people believe also. Combine our offense with the defensive talent we have under aranda scheme and LSU is going to be absolutely dangerous next season. I cannot wait. Geaux tigers!

Who are this kids other offers from? How in the hell has a four star RB from Birmingham slipped through the fingers of Bama and Auburn?

First of all I'm a diehard LSU fan been one all my life. Now with that out the way I am a little concerned at how we are recruiting RB's because this is the second top 15 RB in the country that really wanted to come to Baton Rouge and we elected to pass on them the first being RB Fabian Franklin the #14 RB in the class from Mississippi who signed with TCU. We are losing our two best RB's next year and we only have two backs signed and one of them is a specialist (Tae Provens) and we couldn't use the #6 RB in the country who stands at 6'3" 218 lbs who really wanted to come to LSU? As far as him not signing early well, CB Patrick Surtain Jr. didn't sign early neither did S Kelvin Joseph, WR Jamarr Chase, WR Lawrence Keys III, QB James Foster or athlete Justin Watkins but we're holding a spot for them. I always said after we sign our early class the four spots remaining should've went to CB Patrick Surtain Jr., S Kelvin Joseph, WR Jamarr Chase and RB Harold Joiner because you just don't pass on the 6'3" 218 lb #6 RB in the country just my opinion. GEAUX TIGERS!!!!!!!!!PURPLEREIGN??????????

It doesn't take a recruiting insider to see this kid is playing his drama card. He sounds like a good fit for Ohio State. Maybe he's Clarette's cousin or something. He's one recruit. Nobody here knows the complete story so let's move on.

It's 100% a numbers thing. We take 3 DB's and Chase at WR. Joiner would take the fifth spot if we had it.
