Four-star athlete Caden Sterns from Cibolo, TX announced Sunday that he has decommitted from LSU and has flipped his verbal pledge to Texas.

Sterns was Ed Orgeron's first commitment after being named the head coach at LSU.

The 6-1, 192 prospect from Steele High School is rated the No. 4 safety overall safety in the country for the class of 2018.

His LSU lean is and always will be appreciated. The talent displayed by the young LSU safeties (Delpit, Stevens, Harris, Lewis and Monroe) that he'd compete with probably had something to do with his decision. In either case, we wish him the best of luck.

It absolutely sucks to see him decommit since I think he is a beast, but we have amazing depth at safety, so because of that, it isn't the end of the world.

No big deal. We're loaded. He's from Texas. It's early. If we really need him next year, expect our staff to make a strong push to get him back. The process will work itself out.
