Five-Star WR Easton Royal Flips Commitment To SEC Rival Over LSU

Five-star wide receiver Easton Royal, one of LSU's top recruiting targets in the 2027 class, flipped his commitment from Texas to Florida on Sunday.
Royal, a New Orleans native who plays at Brother Martin High School, had been committed to the Longhorns since November 2025 but continued to consider LSU and Florida throughout his recruitment.
Lane Kiffin and the Tigers had made a strong push to keep the talented receiver in Louisiana, with LSU wide receivers coach George McDonald and former head coach Ed Orgeron recently attending one of Royal's high school games.
Royal is considered one of the nation's top prospects and the No. 1 wide receiver in the 2027 recruiting class. His decision is a significant recruiting victory for Florida head coach Jon Sumrall, who beat out two SEC rivals for his commitment.
Despite Sunday's announcement, LSU could continue pursuing the highly coveted in-state prospect ahead of the December signing period.
