Talented five-star running back Cam Akers from Clinton, MS announced Tuesday night that he has committed to Florida State.

He chose the Seminoles over LSU, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, and Ole Miss.

The 5-11, 213-pound prospect from Clinton, MS is rated the No. 2 running back in the country and No. 1 player from Mississippi for 2017, according to all major recruiting websites.

He was originally committed to Alabama but reopened his recruitment back in March.

I think you will be surprised by Brossette, Nix To Twillie. He has shined in limited carries and should get more this season. Akers has only played high school comp to this point, and you never know how they translate to the next level. Either way, we're set at RB.

I'm just glad he didn't go to Bama. That's where I am at this point.

Damn can't say I didnt see this coming. Akers and Guice would have been a nasty combo. Hopefully we can bring in Marvin Wilson

It's cool. Brossette as a SR starter or Etienne as a Soph will be fine.

Will start immediately for FSU with Cook gone. Wouldn't beat out Guice or Brossette. So probably a good move for him. Move forward Tigers! Go get dem Linebackers!

He wouldn't beat out Guice, but Brossette? Come on. After Guice leaves after next season the path was perfectly paved for Akers to have a starring sophomore season. Brossette would have backed him up.

so i guess akers either did not think he was better than brossette to get good playing time or he did not want to face sec defenses. probably both, come on hyde and etiene and need some linebackers now

SEC had 4 teams worse than 107th ranked in rush D, ACC had 2. SEC had 6 teams ranked 87th or worse, the ACC had 2. SEC had 9 teams ranked 57th or worse, the ACC had 5. SEC had 3 teams ranked in the top 25, one in the top 10. ACC had 5 teams ranked in the top 25, 4 in the top 10. SEC defenses were lousy this year outside of Bama, LSU, Florida, and Auburn.
