Breaking: 5-Star LSU Cornerback Commit Kade Phillips Flips To Texas

Five-star cornerback Kade Phillips has flipped his commitment from LSU to Texas right before signing day.

The 6-1, 180-pound prospect from Missouri City, Texas, was initially committed to the Longhorns but flipped to LSU in August. Now, he's staying in the Lone Star State.

Phillips' flip leaves LSU with 24 commitments heading into signing day. His departure makes signing five-star Florida cornerback DJ Pickett critical for the coaching staff.

The Tigers also have four-star CB Aidan Anding from Ruston, La., who will be signing on Wednesday.

Welcome to college football NIL era:
In: 18 year old millionaires that can barely read or write in correct English. Kids growing up and learn to go for the money…. It is entirely about self. Me me me or I am portal bound.
Out: tradition, education as prep for life, loyalty to a school….best to see who reports to fall camp to see who really is going to be on the team. Sad…. NCAA is now AAA league

Well then they are idiots because it’s not hard to show that LSU’s DBs in the NFL have made much more money than any other school in the country. If they want to make a quick buck thats on them. It’s not like they wouldn’t have been rich at LSU. It’s that they can make a few hundred thousand more at another school but then very well could lose money in the future on draft day. To me it’s an insane decision to make. These kids parents are just as dumb as they are apparently.

If the pay day is not big enough a commitment could mean a player will use a commitment to one storied program as bargaining leverage with another program. Bryce young is from Michigan. Michigan won the Championship a year ago and he had never visited the program. That makes no sense other than business sense. He stays committed to LSU and commits to them 2 weeks before signing. Meadows visit Michigan a week before Underwood commits. That means Underwood was recruiting for Underwood.
