He really needs to go. He's on a downslope. All he does is play favorites, which causes us to suck and eventually lose.

Coaching change is always the answer LSU fans grumble about. The years of LSU competing for the championship year in and year out were great, but can't go on forever. LSU baseball fans now are like how Bama fans will become in the years after Saban retires. Dominating for many years in a row is just a rarity. At least PM has fans hoping for a CWS title every year, which in itself is a credit to his coaching.

Not only do we have to keep him, now we have to pay him more? Maybe we'll get another win in Omaha before he turns 70.

So LSU countered a "potential" offer with a "significant boost in pay?" Word here in Austin is that UT was only putting out feelers to gauge interest in several candidates. They didn't actually offer him the job. Alleva got scared and took the bait.

No LSU letting other schools poach our coaches in the BIG 3 sports would make us a joke and then you and all the other couch coaches would be bitching about how much of a joke LSU was turning into! Classic case of "NO WIN SITUATION".

I thought LSU was in financial trouble? Even the appearance of spending money within the athletic program was forbidden

Not surprised. Texas knew that to pry him away from the best college baseball environment in the country, they'd have to offer a serious pay increase. All LSU probably had to do was come close. I'm fine with CPM. Yes, it's been awhile since winning a title but that's a tough thing to do and there is still no better place to watch college baseball than the Box.

Did we have to mortgage the needed upgrades to Alex box to keep him ?? When will LSU be bigger than the coach ?? I just don't like the wording "substantial raise".

It doesn't matter the sport. LSU fans always think they have the best players in the country and that the coach is the only thing holding them back from national championships.
