Bill Plaschke of the Los Angeles Times wrote that the future of Lane Kiffin as the head coach at USC is in “real doubt”...
quote:

"On the field, this team with unbeaten talent is 6-3 while gaining national recognition mostly for reckless penalties and questionable play-calling.

Off the field, Kiffin has dragged the team through an array of distractions and ethics dilemmas that have tarnished the athletic department’s sterling post-probation image cultivated by Athletic Director Pat Haden.

Kiffin was not hired by Haden, and there is now real doubt about his ability to keep his job beyond this season as the department sinks deeper into embarrassment. Kiffin was a Mike Garrett guy, and there are indications that Haden is ready to rid the program of the last traces of that legacy. As always, winning solves everything, and it appears Kiffin is going to have to do plenty of it in these final three regular-season games.
Like, maybe, win all of them?"

It also wouldn't suprise me too see Lane land an even more prestigious job.

What would be more prestigious than USC that's not in the SEC? Notre Dame? Maybe some people think that's prestigious, but they're not looking for a coach. Texas? Possibility, but it's not more prestigious than USC. IF he were actually fired, I think his reputation would really hurt him in trying to find another college job. He'd have to go back to the NFL, IMO.

Saban isn't interested in the west coast or that Hollywood BS....but his ego is stilll bruised from the major fail in Miami...he would think about Dallas, if just to make that right and ride off into the sunset...with his pockets lined courtesy of Jerry.

If I was Kentucky I would look into hiring him just for his recruiting success. I just don't see him getting fired this year though.

Really though how hard is it to recruit at USC? Winning history, beaches, celebrities, television time? I think anyone could come there right now and recruit well.

Karma....it's a beautiful thing.....both for USC and for Kiffin

Winning out will buy Kiffin some time, as will the fact that SC is still a sanctioned team playing with 10 fewer players than anyone else. He is also one hell of a recruiter, and has USC @ #1 in the nation for this class. But if he loses to ucla or ND or (God forbid) both, he GONE.

"tarnished the athletic department’s sterling post-probation image"

I LMAO at this. Their sterling "post-probation" image? Didn't their probation end this season? I'm sure they've been on the up and up since probation began...

what exactly is this mans appeal? he's not particularly charismatic, he throws more tantrums than Saban and Stoops combined with more contoversy and less production.

Don't feel sorry for USC. They knew he was shady going in but that didn't deter them. It also wouldn't suprise me too see Lane land an even more prestigious job.
