On Monday, via a press release, Florida Athletics Director Scott Stricklin announced the $400 million plan to renovate The Swamp...
quote:

“We’ve conducted a number of studies over the last five-plus years about what the future could look like for Ben Hill Griffin Stadium,” he said. "We’ve engaged with vendors that specialize in iconic venues and stadium experience for both fans and players while offering a variety of solutions.

"It is now time to take that information and engage with an architect who can present renovation, construction and phasing options for The Swamp.”

I'm as guilty as any... for real, and don't know why this popped into my head, but I couldn't help but think of the lack of clean drinking water & starvation around the world while we do this.

You send 400 million overseas to somewhere in the world with starvation and watch a tiny percent of that actually do any good. This way, they’ll at least have some football to watch..

I went to the Swamp for the first time this past season. I thought it was great. Very easy to get in and out. It has a large concourse. It was very easy to get a beer and get back to the seats. I sat right behind the LSU band.

Excellent place to watch a game and be a fan. Those fans are brutal and it’s a hostile crowd for opponents.

Nothing like a little more pressure on Napier to do well.

Bet they get the neon lights and pumped in music stuff really going. Probably planning the way to keep nachos cheese warm.

I saw a relief pitcher come in for a major league Baseball game and the light show was fricking spectacular for something so arbitrary

They are installing massive lighting and fan experience upgrade now. Maybe one day Tiger Stadium will do the same.

Most of the larger college stadiums have over-built their optimum seating capacity. While UF is somewhat down, this would be a prime opportunity to reduce seating capacity in lieu of premium seating.

After this renovation it will be even more brutal to play there. Florida fans are brutal to opposing teams, not as bad as LSU fans, but a close second.

My first LSU game was in 1962 and I've gone to a LOT of LSU games since. The only brutality I've seen at LSU games is between LSU fans. That's a tired old accusation that is about as accurate as the use of Corn Dogs to try to demean LSU fans.

Meh, I think if you’re sitting near the UF student section, sure, just like every other student section. I went to BHG 2 years ago when Bama played there. Sat in the middle of the UF section because I wanted shade. People couldn’t have been nicer.

Did they fund this with Petty's tears from the grave?
