An Oklahoma man, named George Washington, reeled in a 60-pound Flathead catfish that broke one of his scales and damaged two others. It all went down Sunday night at the East Cache Creek in Lawton, Oklahoma...

"It became a massive fight," Washington told ABC News on Tuesday.

"Once all his weight dropped, one broke, one malfunctioned and one would not give an accurate read," he said.

"You could feed five or six families," he added.

I was tailrace fishing at the Lake Oolagah Dam north of Tulsa a few years ago. 2 old guys in a jon boat idled up and using surf rods hooked a big catfish. It broke the reel so they grabbed the line and brought it up to the boat where it took both to lift it in. They started the engine and left. 1 fish, good for the day.

A 60 lb flathead is not that big. Definitely one of your uglier fish, though, having become kind of famous in the movie Grumpier Old Men.
