Here's Auburn QB Bo Nix's Reaction To Gus Malzahn's Firing
© Chuck Cook-USA TODAY Sports
Auburn QB Bo Nix had a special relationship with Gus Malzahn. On Sunday, he posted this heartfelt message after hearing about his firing...
quote:

Coach Malzahn, thank you for believing in your players and giving all of us a chance to live out our goals and dreams. You are a great representation of an Auburn man, and it was an honor to play under your leadership! The Lord has used you to influence the lives of so many, and your relationship with him has been on full display. Thank you for your investment in me, this program, and Auburn University.

“Use your influence in a positive way.” -Coach Malzahn

Auburn has lived under BBB (Big Brother Bama’s) shadow for eons and it kills them. Their blinding jealousy has made the laughing stock of the West. The next hire won’t be any better than Gus. Tough times for The Barn.

Was that actually a heartfelt message to his coach or a look-at-me post on Instagram?

Gus was a good person, but ya'll know less than shite about what was going on. He got paranoid and micromanaged assistants and did a lot of weird stuff that made no sense. You ever wonder why he wouldn't hire actual COLLEGE coaches to coach any part of the offense? They wouldn't work for him because word got around about him. Should have sent him packing in 2017

He didn't WANT those coaches. That was known in the industry. As one SEC coach told ESPN anonymously, "he only kept his guys around him." The only people he'd hire were Gus disciples (like Morris and Lindsay), former players of his (like Burns and Lashlee) or old AU alums with no coaching experience who he knew would learn his system and "keep it in the family." Gus isn't the first coach to sorta have his own coaching cult or an offense that he ran his way with no input from others. It was done at BYU for years. It was done at Houston in the late 80's. It was done at Nevada under Chris Ault for many years. Spurrier kinda did it (never had an OC except his son, AFAIK). The difference is all those guys won and changed the game. Gus won early and sorta changed the game (at least in the SEC), but everyone copied what they wanted, adjusted to him on defense, and it was game over. He didn't have any way out of it because he refused to adapt or learn new ideas.

Nix knows his days as a starter are numbered now. Only Gus is dumb enough to start him.

Well... how do you really feel about this situation? What school are you a fan of? Gussy is pathetic and he sunk that program.

The 2nd picture confirms what I feel like I already knew about Malzahn: He high fives with his fingers apart, and if allowed, interlocks fingers with the recipient.
