While on Monday's McElroy and Cubelic in the Morning, college football analyst Paul Finebaum addressed the rumors of Alabama head coach Nick Saban retiring after tonight's National Championship game...

“The funny part about that is every year, going back to 2015, ESPN has asked me to do one of these tedious essays on Nick Saban’s life and that’s to air the moment he announces his retirement,” Finebaum said. “He would never do it after a game. They didn’t ask me to do it this time around which shows you even the network is not thinking’s about it. If it happens tomorrow, you can’t act like you’re dumbfounded. At some point, you have to look at your life and career and ask, OK, is this a good way to end it? I would be surprised, but I don’t see any evidence of it.”

No, Nick Saban isn't retiring. But a couple of million college football fans wish Paul would retire ASAP!

We hear this every year so it is not a prediction at all! It is a guess and the guess gets more possible year after year! Only because Saban gets older! He is 71 and unless your are a politician or Dicky V. you retire at that age.

For the last 2-3 months there have been weekly discussions on McElroy and Cubelic‘s show about Saban’s mental health. People in the state, who pay a lot of attention to Saban think something’s not right. If he were to step away it would be after signing day, and after he has hand picked his replacement. Regardless we have a great new coach, and I’m excited to see what Coach Kelly is going to build at LSU.

What could have been if we had had leadership like Bama that would have sat in Miami until Nick said yes to return to LSU. Mal Moore did that. Skip and crew said they had to honor Les Miles contract instead of buying it out and bringing Nick back. The rest is history. Nick had high regard for Bertman. But, Skip...well, let's just say he didn't go to Miami.
