So here's the deal: UCF finished last season with a perfect 13-0 record, didn't make the College Football Playoff, but crowned themselves National Champions. Alabama, on the other hand, went 13-1, won the College Football Playoff and walked away with the actual National Championship Trpohpy. Here's what Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban had to say about that, per George Schroeder of USA Today...
quote:(SB Nation/USA Today)
"I have a tremendous amount of respect for their team and what they were able to accomplish," Saban said of UCF on Tuesday
"I guess anybody has the prerogative to claim anything," Saban added. "But self-proclaimed is not the same as actually earning it. And there’s probably a significant number of people who don’t respect people who make self-proclaimed sort of accolades for themselves."
