fricking right, I'm right there with you. One of my biggest issues as a manager is every single one of my people taking every vacation hour the week the accrue it. We don't get shite done because we are constantly partial staffed. I would give my dick to have a team who cares about this place half as much as I do.

You're the manager are you not? Amend the policy so that you have to accrue x hours before they take days. Or hire more people so that you aren't constantly under staffed.

But for crying out loud, don't stalk around like a salty a-hole because your team is using their earned vacation time within the rules of your company.

Honestly, it might even be more effective for everyone to take time off at the same time because hardly nothing gets done in the month of December anyway.

You're pissed that people are using their earned vacation days? Are you also mad that they are accepting their full salary?

What percentage do you think "give a shite"?

I have 57 (women) employees. And I would divide them into thirds. A third I would do anything to keep, a third I could take or leave them, and a third I would escort out the door today if I could.

As long as that bottom third exist, and based on recent interviews there is 10 of those to every 1 that goes in the other two categories, those staffing issues are going to exist. But I agree its one of my constant sources of frustration.

this just sounds like a couple of guys who pissed away their own vacation time during the year. And now other people who conserved their vacation time are using that time around the holidays and OP and his new found friend are pissed because they will be at work when the others are enjoying themselves.

Why do you care what people do with their vacation time? They earned it, they can take it when they want to.

frick that. Vacation doesn't roll over. I'm using it.

As long as companies make us take all the days every year with no rollover, I will take them when I please....

My boss and I are both taking the week of Christmas. His boss is taking a 2 week trip starting on thanksgiving. It's that time of year.

Americans are some of the hardest workers in the world. Stop complaining and be thankful they hardly ever take anytime off. I gift my employees a week off during the holiday season because I want them to be with family. It makes for a happier employee, and I have low turnover in many companies because of it.

I can't go to NYC anymore because I need to get things done at work, how it should be.

This guy would love Europe.

It basically shuts down in August and then again in December because they get like 6 weeks standard.

I get 4 weeks. I took a week off in the summer. A week off for Thanksgiving and two weeks for Christmas. Our company actually shuts down for about a week and a half anyway and they force us to take off.

You should've done your work earlier.

Now it appears you are a jealous a-hole. Everyone else gets to take off but you. Sucks to be you.
