re: Have any friends that decided to "home school" their kids? - statman34
There are plenty of home schooling groups, most however, are religion based. There are examples of groups that Co-op and there are examples of groups that have social gatherings. They also foster sports related activities whether it be participation in some school leagues to various other events....

re: Have any friends that decided to "home school" their kids? - statman34
I have mostly girls and I don't think I want them on a college campus that early. I think academically, hopefully they would be ready, but not for the other aspects....
This needs to stop being a metric that people brag about. Home school teachers/parents can choose the curriculum and how fast they go through it.
I agree with this statement. I think most of the time people are posting this because others are stating that "every kid" they know tha...

re: Have any friends that decided to "home school" their kids? - statman34
All good points. I have been exposed to public, private and home schooling options in my life and I can cite bad examples from all 3. I can cite bad kids and parents who had issues in all 3 and I have seen good kids and parents succeed in all 3. It really is dependent on the parents driving the e...

re: Have any friends that decided to "home school" their kids? - statman34
It is just like anything else in life. There are going to be those who are successful at it and those who aren't. Some where the kids do well and are socially well adjusted and some that aren't. Pretty much, like others have said upthread, like every child who is home schooled or not. Some kids ...

re: When does it cross the line for you - noise disturbances? - statman34
It crosses the line, in my opinion, when the event is either a ridiculously loud, late and drawn out party that I can hear in my house still at 2 am or a habitual offense that the same neighbor does day after day. There are occasional parties that irritate me, but my biggest pet peeve is a dumb ass...

re: Awful Coaching Job - statman34
You need to be motivated down 2-0 at home on the playoffs? Stop playing the sport
Exactly. As much as we bash the coaches all the time (Johnny Jones and Monty), honestly though, execution is lacking a lot of the time. And yes, the coaches are supposed to coach, but execution of t...

re: Top five worst quaterbacks in saints history - statman34
I agree about Stabler and Collins. No doubt. But Brooks was different in that he was here longer and was essentially at one point considered a long term franchise QB. Neither of those guys were considered a long term fix, although Collins could have started out being thought of that way....but he...

re: Top five worst quaterbacks in saints history - statman34
Is it possible that Brooks could be one of the best AND worst in Saints history? There are plenty to choose from that are horrible....but what makes the worst of Brooks bad was that he had all the talent and none of the drive to be the best. Those other guys simply sucked and were terrible. Brook...

re: DAT 4/8: Game 2: Houston Astros vs Cleveland Indians - MMP - 7:10 PM - ROOT TV - statman34
I would be swinging away on the first pitch every time if I were a major league hitter right now. I agree with your assessment. They had mentioned last night that Gattis was a .400 hitter on the first pitch last year. No one in the middle is hitting for shite right now, so they better start doing ...

re: Acacia article in reveille cites tigerdroppings - statman34
No one enters into a frat without knowing what the frat is and what it will do to you during initiation. Please. Common sense. The sad thing is I hate fraternities. Loathe them, in fact. But I will stand up for the rights of fraternities because it is a private thing that you actually pay to ...
Frat boys in this thread are so mad. And so desperate to join a fraternity and have their investment of paying for friends work out they're willing to eat another man's puke and dog food.
Look to each his own. My cousin tried to get me to join. I humored him, but in the end...
