High achieving African immigrants have crowded out black Americans
Indian immigrants are very high achieving but two generations down, they have some screwed up Indian grand kids that don't resemble the high achieving grandparents.

quote:I don't question for one second that it won't be thorough. You left out how partisan it's going to be - both sides.
I expect it to be brutal, and thorough.
Conservatives are desperate to link Benghazi to the whitehouse and Hillary. Democrats are looking for something to split the republicans.
There is nothing objective about this select committee.

quote:Everyone? Woahhh there batman! If conservatives go down this path, then this will definitely be a witch hunt.
She will. Everyone will.
Trey has promised this will be bipartisan but if he starts issuing out subpoenas like Issa, then there will be some backlash.
quote:The outcome of this committee was already determined the day Gowdy was named as the chairman of the committee.
I'm ready for all the new information to come out
I'll be shocked if Hillary isn't subpoenaed.
quote:Most reasonable minded Americans would agree that around 15 - 20% of their income to be spent on healthcare (depending on size of family). But as long as we have an extreme right wing in this country that believes healthcare to be a privilege, then we might as well believe that affordable is $0 for the average American.
I am saying that if the average american can not afford to pay out of pocket for what the average american requires/receives in health care benefits then the whole system is bound to fail one way or the other.
quote:subsidizing healthcare costs for those with pre-existing conditions through ACA is mostly geared towards those who are not able bodied. I'm not trying to suggest they can't work but their physical productivity is not on par with someone like you and me.
Forcing someone to subsidize the healthcare cost of an abled bodied person who CHOOSES not to work is THEFT.

quote:Spidie I agree with some of your points about how ludicrous BC debate is projected by the right BUT I have to disagree with your view that there is hatred of women on here.
Seems like the only premise this OP has is hatred of women.

Amd please take time to read this carefully, it explains why selling insurance across state lines would be awful.

I think Rand Paul is the only one who could do it

he comes off wooden. Bush did a pretty good job on that. Rick perry could nail it IMHO

Rand Paul wins CPAC straw poll.

quote:My apologies for coming across rudely. I just get aggravated by some people who think just because their premiums went up, then they somehow have a better moral argument against ACA. That's where I was coming from.
Another little boy who gets asked an honest question in a respectful manner and unravels
And on top of that, I pay taxes, I work, I have health insurance but because I support the ACA, some how I'm viewed as a free loader or someone who feels entitled.
I appreciate the lecture about responsibility (not being sarcastic) but I do have loved ones that I know have benefited from this law.
quote:Boogey man was in reference to the scary absurd notions that America was going to somehow disappear.
Do I have a "boogey man" or a legitimate concern, in your opinion?
Firstly, my premiums went up too even though I'm a single male, no pre-existing condition and I don't smoke. So frick you and your moral high horse.
Premiums were going to go up regardless of what kind of reforms that would have been passed that included riskier people being covered.
Your concern is legitimate. Mine too.

God only knows what the good folk will do when this thing kicks in...and kicks their asses
When will this scary boogy man every appear? We were warned that the country would cease to exist the day the bill passed. We were warned freedoms would be lost the day Obamacare kicked in.
None of that happened... BUT I'll keep waiting for that day to come.
quote:Jammed through?Hardly. Hearings were held. Amendments were included in both houses.
Can you name any massive legislation jammed through with as mush horse shite in it on a party line vote?
I don't agree with the premise of your question.
And cry me a river about party line politics. This is the same thing being carried out by house republicans.
quote:Any massive legislature that has ever been passed in US congress has been modified/updated at some point. Obamacare is no exception.
It will not stand in its current form. It will be changed
The core of the bill remains the same. Individual mandate stands.
quote::lol:
sshhhh the narrative here is it is a failure. Get with the program!
Some folks on poliboard are praying hard that it fails. Obamacare is here to stay!

There is a big demographic shift going on from Shreveport to Bossier. I moved 15 years ago. Shreveport has a high crime rate, a Democrat controlled govt and a decreasing population per square mile as they keep annexing outlying suburbs to try and make up for a decreasing tax base. But that equals more cost for city services.
