Anybody dealt with this? Not necessarily pain, moreso discomfort which can pretty become bad if I push it.
Get it with moderate weight on shoulder press, lat raises, shrugs primarily. I do not do any presses or pulls behind my head. I even get it sometimes if I have to sit for long periods without any type of back rest, like if sitting on bleachers for a few hours.

Pain/discomfort doesn't really go anywhere, just kind of sticks to that prominent vertebrate at bottom of neck/top of back. C7?

Maybe work on some posture exercises? Also focus on keeping a neutral neck and head position during lifts perhaps. See a lot of people looking up or down doing different lifts. Basically want to be neutral head position for everything.

I get it all the time. From what I’ve read/watched, it’s a mobility issue. Be very careful with your form and work on shoulder mobility. Also, check other areas that will directly affect the neck/shoulders. Lat tightness, biceps, and wrists.

I’m just very careful to watch my form and not strain too hard on any exercises that might directly affect the neck.

Be very careful with your cervical spine. I highly discourage heavy military presses or other overhead lifts. Do not push it. Just IMHO.

Might have to see your movement patterns. Hard to give you a “why” unless we can see your “how.” Video yourself doing the lifts, then go compare them to lifting tutorials. I highly recommend Brian Alsruhe’s videos on YouTube. He has some awesome how-to videos.

ETA: If correcting your form doesn’t work, you may have an injury and should seek medical attention.
