What’s everyone’s favorite Italian in the city? Level of dining doesn’t matter, just some good ole Italian

Man, that’s great! Anything on there that you would say is “must do” for first timers on limited time? Also, is driving to game dumb or the right call?

This is correct. I’m just looking to fill time as a first timer. Was gonna take the train down to South Bend Saturday, but with our flight out being early morning, we’re just renting a car for the day. Saturday is a full day, but just looking for Chicago recs for Thursday and Friday.

Chicago for Notre Dame Game

Hey guys, I am holding off on booking some things because I was looking for a little advice, maybe from some Chicago natives.

Short version is, I am going to Chicago for the ND v Army game in early November, and I am looking for suggestions on how to fill our time. Landing around lunchtime Thursday, free all day Friday, then renting a car for the day to get to South Bend and back. Flying out Sunday morning, so only need Thursday and Friday plans. Any suggestions on bars/sites/restaurants/events/hotels welcome.

Where is your go-to place to buy live crabs right now? Ran into some issues last few times I used my regular guy.

I’m gonna be in New Orleans tonight, any suggestions on bars or restaurants that will definitely have the game on?

I'm a Bova stan, personally. I hate to cheat when I'm in town, but I guess I can have two desserts.

Abita has been super helpful on multiple trips. I'm gonn ashoot for Mooncusser. If not, were you saying you highly reccommend Grotto or Fox and Knife?

Halloween in Boston

Posted by dvar1 on 10/11/24 at 9:32 am
I'm headed to Boston the week of Halloween. I've already been in contact with Abita who gave me a lot of really great suggestions. Not going to Salem. I'm posting anyways, because I've been to Boston a good bit, but I want to do some things I've never done. Maybe some stuff less touristy. I'm open to any and all of everyones favorite suggestions. Anything I can reach by public transportation and walking. I also posted about restaurant suggestions in the F&B board if anyone has anything for that! TIA

Boston Restaurant Recs

Let me start by saying I've been to Boston many times, but I am looking to take the wife somewhere different on a date night while we are in town next month. It doesn't have to be fancy (though I'm not opposed). I just would like to try some place I've never had. Anything that can be reached by public transport and a little walking. All suggestions welcomed!

I've done this trip twice in last 5 years. Shoot me an email with what youre looking for or what you have planned, and I will help out.

I’ve actually done it once before. Left Sedona at about 6:30am and drove the 2 hours to GC. We’re really not gonna do any hikes or anything there, just going to drive the rim and stop at all the lookouts and whatnot. Probably leave by about 3 or so. Another 2.5 hours to Page. Not spending a ton of time there either. Waking up and doing a morning tour of AC then moving on. Basically more of site seeing stops. Not as bad as it sounds driving I promise. Was nervous the first go round but it went smoothly.

The T may be the most effe3cient public transport I've been on. You can buy a week pass for like $25 too.

SouthWest Trip

Posted by dvar1 on 2/26/24 at 10:13 am
I'm going back to the SW in a month, and know the area pretty well. I am just looking for maybe some not so well known or popular ideas. Maybe some restaurants or cool stops/short day trips.

Flying into PHX and driving straight to Sedona for 3 nights.

Driving up to GC then staying in Page 1 night

1 night in Bryce

2 nights in Zion

2 nights in Vegas

Any ideas are appreciated!

re: Phoenix / Sedona / Grand Canyon

We've done something similar to this and we are going back in April.

We flew into PHX and rented a car. You get you fill of the awesome cactus views on the drive to Sedona.

Sedona:

A ton of great hikes. Devils Bridge, Boynton Canyon, Cathedral Rock, West Fork are all amazing.

Jeep Tours are worth it to get off your feet for a while.

Seeing some of the native sites could fill an afternoon as well. Go see the Chapel of the Holy Cross, and slide rock park.

Food is easy to come by.

GC:

Take 89A to GC and start in the morning. Stop in Flagstaff for some breakfast.

Honestly, a lot of people will tell you to spend days at the Grand Canyon. I think that would be really awesome, but it depends how much you want to see. I would like to do that one day, but havent had time.

We drove thr rim, made all the stops and did a small hike. Didnt spend the night. We drove straight to Page.

Page:

Antelope Canyon and Lake Powell are there. If youre feeling reaaaally squirrelly, you could probably make it to Monument Valley from there. We drove to Brce Canyon (a pretty long drive) from Page.

From here, we spent a day in Bryce and 2.5 days in Zion before ending in Vegas.

8 nights. If you need any help or info, just reply and I'll send you my email.

Container Homes

Does anyone have any insight on building a container home in South LA? I visited one recently and it was about 2500 sqft and was very nice. Guy was bragging how cheap it was but was curious if anyone had any experience around here.
