I agree that the 2007 team was not as talented but PM inherited those players from Smoke this team is all PM and it is hard to believe we couldn't get a catcher,1st baseman or left fielder that could hit better than 220. I was very sickened by the preformance against Vandy : 31 runs given up . I hope that they don't quit -this team needs to reflect on the tradition that is LSU baseball and try to preform like those teams of our past! We have teams coming up that are beatable ,we need to make our move now if we have any chance of making the SEC tournament.
The difference between Vandy and LSU players is night and day. Vandy gets three or four hits in a row ,they play solid defense and of course the pitching is stellar. PM needs power hitting first ,third and left fielders, some left hand hitters and left hand pitching. I know PM has a solid left hand pitcher coming in next year but PM needs all of these other parts if the Tigers are to be back in the hunt for the SEC and CWS. This season is very painful to watch, the starting pitching keeps us in the game but wears down and our bullpen sucks, we lose leads and you know that our weak hitting can't put runs on the board. Very frustrating!
I hate the new bats . They have completely changed the whole college game. The bats are metal and act like wood. Most of these players will never play pro ball . I truly hope some adjustments to the sweet spot will be made for next season.
I also think we are in serious trouble if we don't find a way to pull out this series. I watched this game last nite and had a bad feeling when we didn't get ANY runs in the first three innings. I do feel sorry for McCune who has pitched brilliantly and gotten no run support. They had better wake or we'll be looking forward to baseball NEXT season!
Thanks for the update. I really don't care who starts at QB next year as long as I hear Jim Hawthorne say :TIGERS WIN, TIGERS WIN ! :geauxtigers:
