$3.50/gal for gas is sure going to be nice for my bonus in a few years.

Who knew energy independence involved importing 7-8MM barrels/day?

US consumption = 20MM bo/d

US prod at peak = 13MM bo/d

Do the math.

Facts don’t matter - Trump let us think we were energy independent and that’s all that truly matters - perception is reality

We arent energy independent.

Its because most of the large refineries along the gulf coast require a specific range API crude as stock for the refining processes. The US crude doesnt match those specs, therefore some of it is blended with other crudes and some of it is exported.

Well you obviously do not know anything about the subject.

Look at once side of the equation just like hillary's cattle futures.

The warmongers hate energy independence. When our national security depends on foreign governments for oil, endless wars are inevitable.

Are cows and cars are a bigger contributor to climate change than transporting troops or producing and dropping bombs? Is climate change really such an "existential threat" that it's worth giving up our freedoms and foreign wars? Do leftists even consider these things? Liberals used to care enough to think about these questions.

I guess a few liberals on the backside of 40 might think outside the popular narrative. However, I've never met a self identified liberals under 40 that doesn't shite thier pants whenever it's proposed that climate change might not be the end of life on earth. fricking cowards are killers and they don't even know it.

Uh fellas, doesnt energy also include natural gas....Im just askin for a friend. You know that frackin thing they have been talking about?

We now produce over 40 billion cubic feet of nat gas (the largest producer by far of any country), double what it was 20 years ago, and when you do the conversion, plus the import export piece (we export ALOT of nat gas to Mexico, and liquified nat gas across the globe), yes we are energy independent.

But dont take my word for it, rather the Institute for Energy Research...

quote:

U.S. energy production in 2019 was higher than U.S. energy consumption for the first time in 62 years. Thus, the U.S. attained the long-held goal of “energy independence”—which is not to say that we did not import or export energy, but that we produced more energy than we used.

You will note how they throw a rod in the ole theory of importing "oil" and conveniently leaving nat gas out of the equation. We do import a lot of heavy crude, to refine, our refineries are the few in the world that can do it, get a lot of oil sands from Canada (remember that keystone thingy), and used to get a lot from Venezuela, but since they instituted the biden model of economics they dont produce squat.

Here's some math. Energy > oil

Really? Why don’t you give us the analyses?

Me waiting for that analysis or anything substantive from you...

Can you explain to me how we are actually energy independent if our oil consumption exceeds production? This is a tortured analysis that is a movement of the goal posts on an epic level.

Let’s say you consume 1bcf/d of gas and 20MM bo/d. Yet you produce 5bcf/d gas and 13MM bo/d. Are you really energy independent?
