My dad played in high school against him (Swainsboro), Guy played QB, DB, punted, all that. I asked my dad how was his punting since that is how I knew of him....he said that he was so good he wasnt sure they punted all night.
re: The ATL Thread: Off-day & Freddie's heart is still in Atlanta thread....

Which is fine with me, he was never Chipper Jones and I know that will eat at his arse for the rest of his life. Personally, I don't like the fact that Freddie gets more adoration than Chipper at this point of his career for playing far less years in ATL than Chipper did.
Its subjective and the story is still fresh. Also, Chipper showed up on College Gameday decked out in Gator gear. Some things can't be unseen. I consider Chipper's body of work as greater than Freddie's, but for me personally, Freddie was more "my guy." I felt the same way for Ron Gant vs Justice also, so take it for what its worth.
As for the OP topic, I wish all of this would just stop now. Dude is gone, he will always be a Braves legend, we should have just extended him last season, but it didnt happen. I hope he wins every award possible while the Braves win rings. Nothing but appreciation for FF, but DOB seems to need to write on the topic every damn day.

I spent many a Thirsty Thursday in that stadium (pre-Bananas). I remember some of them.

Amen to that. I check a bag only after I have tried a shoe horn and sitting on my carry on. I want to show up in time to get thru security, walk to my gate, and hear my section called. When we land I want to GTFO of the airport. I will sit on a plane and wait happily if my other option is to have to show up early and then sit in baggage claim.
I am a HUGE Bird fan but I disagree with this. Kareem was 38 years old during the 85 Finals (still won MVP). McHale played was on the bench because Cornbread Maxwell (81 Finals MVP) was so highly thought of until they traded him in 85 due to McHale being so good. The 86 Celtics team is considered the pinnacle of basketball and Bird's peak. DJ, Ainge, Bird, McHale, and Chief were every bit as good as Magic, Scott, Worthy, Rambis/AC, Kareem. If anything the thing that put the Lakers over the Celtics in 87 was the Mychael Thompson trade, and the fact that Walton was a shell and the rest of the bench was garbage. Cooper and Thompson off the bench was much better than Jerry Sichting and Walton/Greg Kite.
But Birds prime was better than Magic's. However, Magic's career and legacy are better than Bird's. IMHO. One game or season in their prime, give me Larry. If I had to draft either considering the future....I am taking Magic.

Used to have it recorded on VHS. I can still hear Rick Barry's response to the 45 "Can we call this a make good, I mean, thats a two handed windmill from the side....with authority!!" I might have watched it a time or 100.
re: Clusterfrick Adele cancels Vegas show 24 hours before start

Our family gave my mom tix (face value, it was a complicated lottery system) for Christmas. Show is/was in March. I got to spend my evening discussing this crap. We have a family friend that had tix for last night, was in the Bellagio when the cancellation came. These are not wealthy people, this is dirt road South Georgia folks making their first trip to Vegas. Laugh that Adele was the reason, but it is still a fact.
To say people were pissed is an understatement. I dont mind, I was going to accompany them and purposely booked it during the Sweet 16 weekend so I could gamble while they saw the show. Sorry for the crappy present mom!
The ironic thing was that for the show, every participant had to be Covid tested within 48 hours of the show and bring a negative result to get in on top of the ticket. To go thru all that and then get bailed on is shitty.
