Can whatever Texas offer Schloss in theory be worth it to him to be forever hated by half the state? Just seems like a huge pain the arse to deal with for the rest of your time coaching. Plus its not like A&M couldn't match what Texas offers. If anything he's using it as leverage to secure more NIL funding and get more in guarenteed money for the stadium.

I disagree. You saw those type of hires under Jimbo, a lot of big name assistants that carried some weight on the recruiting trail, but the game had obviously passed them by.

Klein is a young up and comer, and the OL coach produced top 3 ACC units at Duke with a large talent disadvantage.

Trooper Taylor and the WR (assuming) will be the big recruiters on O.

The defensive staff is filled with guys who all have good recruiting chops. I think the jury is still out on Bateman as a play caller, but he is known as a great recruiter. Spencer and Ish are also good recruiters.

Regardless, the coaching staff Elko has hired will be a massive upgrade over what A&M has had the last 2 seasons. Jimbo's initial hires were pretty good, but every time he had to replace a coach that moved on it was a massive failure.
