My fav thing about this board’s maga freaks is watching them hurriedly twisting into knots with every contradictory position Trump stumbles into.

Foreign aid is a rounding error. Literally no one has the guts to cut anything or raise taxes in a way significant enough to affect the budget math.

If the aggressive ignorance and malice of this board is reflective of your “working class” then I’d say they’ve earned every bit of contempt from the educated, successful, wealthy winners in this country. Agree with you that we need to hide our contempt better. In that task, Trump is a phenomenal model—no rich, coastal elite has more completely duped the great unwashed low-IQ poor losers than him. He’s really cracked the code.

The full story in the Atlantic is full of truly crazy details. Like even though most of it you’ve probably heard, seeing it all spelled out there is astonishing. I did sort of wonder how the maga crowd by defend this stuff, and the first few responses here are about what I expected. Yeah honestly Maher is better at political interviews than almost anyone else on tv. I thought it was a good conversation. Ron did quite well, hopeless though his campaign may be.
Conservatism is about stability, institutional preservation of knowledge and wealth, social norms, hierarchy. Yours is the logic of the revolutionary left, the losers of history.

When nothing happens except the planned test of an emergency alert, I’d hope it might be an inspiration to start getting information from more reliable sources. It won’t, I realize that. Not without some kind of psychiatric intervention at least. I hope you get help though.

well....federal largesse benefits primarily whites without college education, a core Trump constituency, and from what I can tell from reading the grammar and syntax on this board, a majority of the people who post here. When the government shuts down, it will be these poor, uneducated MAGA die-hards who suffer the most.
