Actions have to have consequences (even if it sucks for everyone)

As a parent, you sometimes have to enforce consequences for bad behavior, and sometimes those consequences can affect everyone else including yourself. I have had to cancel fun plans for the entire family or had leave places because of the way one or a couple of my kids was acting. And everyone was pissed about it, including myself. But they have to know that the next time they behave that way, there will be consequences and we will follow through.
As Republicans, we have become so accustomed to the tough talk Republicans, that always end up with some excuse why they have to cave "we have no choice", when in reality they knew all along they would cave, and knew they could get away with it because there were not any consequences.
Maybe in the future, they will put a little more thought into how much of their values they are willing to colpromise on and capitulate to the Dems, and realize if they step out if line, they will get slapped down, and better think twice about doing so.

yeah I am pretty sure this was in the federalist papers - statesmanship as learned from disciplining insolent children.

I read every few minutes on this board that America is dead. Want to keep it dead? Refuse to compromise. Take your ball and go home. See how far that gets us.

Compromise with the current democrat party? That's a good thing?

This doesn't even suck.

The best part about all of this is Gaetz just hung the R’s out to dry. They have been making promises about enacting everything Gaetz wants for decades but never do. Anyone who thinks compromising on their principles is admirable is just a shill for the uniparty. These people would be fine with free gender reassignment for 2 year olds without parental consent if they can get their border or Ukraine money. They call this compromising. I call it selling out. Pretty much every R in the house has campaigned on Gaetz’s demands yet he is the bad guy in this. Yes I want it to crash and burn. frick them all!! They deserve no quarter.
