Bowl Game and Kelly
Posted by RollThePoint on 11/30/21 at 9:40 pm
Do you think Kelly will be participating in prep for the bowl game and be on the sidelines? Or is he just going to stick to recruiting/observing at this point? I mean he IS the head coach at this point.

Mark Helfrich it is.
Nooo, nooo, nooooo. He is the Ed Orgeron of Oregon minus a national championship.
Sound familiar?: LINK
"Helfrich and Oregon agreed to part ways on November 29, 2016 following a 4–8 season, Oregon's worst record in 25 years and first losing season since 2004. It also saw the first non-sellout crowds at Autzen Stadium since 2002."

That was Brady in 2019.
I agree he was a big part, but what about Boutte? Fundamentals of creating separation and route running is on the WR position coach. Why do people think Joseph didn't coach them on the fundamentals? Dropping passes is fixed with repetition in practice and being in sync with your QB. Route running, physicality, creating separation are fundamentals; and positional player development.

I really hope we keep Mickey Joseph/Corey Raymond. One of the best; if not THE BEST WR/DB coach combos in the country. They turn out pros. Looking at how Jefferson and Chase are performing the NFL; with the intricate change in speed when running routes to create separation; a lot of that was taught by Joseph.

You think one player would make Kiffin pass up the money and bigger program? Honest question, if his last name wasn’t Manning, would the hype be where it currently is?
No, but if he gets Manning to Ole Miss, Ole Miss will open the bank to keep Kiffin there. Right now, Kiffin is not worth the money LSU would have to negotiate to pull him from Ole Miss.

A small raise gets him here, even if Ole Miss matches and then some. We might have to counter with a little more, but you are completely missing the bigger picture. Money isn’t the issue and your lack of vision on this point is hilarious.
Ole Miss can never be a consistent power program in the world of NIL. They are a smaller school with a smaller alumni base in a state with less money and more competition. They are behind in terms of stadium size, facilities, you name it, and there is no way for them to ever catch up. They are what they are, just like State. There’s a reason that Tommy T bailed on them for a tougher job after he became a hero at OM for winning while they were under tough probation sanctions. That job has a hard ceiling.
I don’t think Kiffin would leave for just any P5 opening to get a raise, but this isn’t just any job and he knows it. This is one of a handful of jobs you jump on when they are available. It is superior to Ole Miss by every metric and measure available. I’m sure he sees that, even if you can’t.
I get all that, but it does come down to money. After all the back and forth in negotiations, Kiffin would probably end up a 6-7mil HC if he did come to LSU, on par with Fisher/Smart. I don't think he is a 6-7 mil HC right now, and I don't think Woodward would pay him that. He still needs time to prove himself, so he will be at Ole Miss for a couple of years.

You're nuts if you think he cares about this.
How much do you think Woodward would have to offer him for him not to care? He has a reputation. I don't think he moves unless the offer is similar to what Fisher/Smart got; and I don't think he should get paid that yet.

If Woodward opens the bank account for him. Which I don't think he will. Anything less than a Jimbo/Smart contract, he stays at Ole Miss.
Saban and Kiffin are NOT coming to LSU. Shtop it.

-Kiffin: ***Edit: Kiffin is not worth the money. Ole Miss will open the bank to keep him, especially if he recruits Arch Manning. After all the back and forth in negotiations/counter offers, Kiffin would probably end up a 6-7mil HC if he did come to LSU, on par with Fisher/Smart. I don't think he is a 6-7 mil HC right now, and I don't think Woodward would want to offer him that. I agree he totally would come to LSU for that offer, but I don't think it is going to happen.
Original: He is not pulling another Tennessee; especially after "Manning Day", aka "Arch Manning Recruiting Day". If he gets to the New Year's Six, ... then lands Arch Manning for 4 years; he is staying put for the rest of his contract. He is setting himself up to get paid. I don't think Woodward would/should pay him now.
-Saban: Won 6 national championships at Alabama. He has made more money than he would even need. They built a friggin statue of his arse. Woodward could offer him 20 mil and he wouldn't leave. Some Bama inbred would start poisoning people if he did. He is retiring at Alabama.

If Kiffin gets Arch Manning to Ole Miss (which chances are pretty high after "Manning Day"...), then he is not leaving Ole Miss for LSU.
re: Nuss should start
Posted by RollThePoint on 10/24/21 at 9:21 am to In The Know
He shouldn't get the start this season, but he should get more reps. He needs more reps so he can be assessed under the same pressure Max has been under all season. Watching what a QB does under pressure is what separates a decent QB vs a playmaker. Next season he can duke it out with Max for starter.
re: Who is the 1 possible hire not named Saban that would make 90% of LSU fans happy?
Posted by RollThePoint on 10/21/21 at 11:46 pm to Springlake Tiger
I think everyone would be happy with Lincoln Riley or Chris Peterson. You can't argue their overall records. They are good coaches who are consistent.

If he gets Chris Peterson, Arch Manning may consider LSU.
re: What do you think about Chris Peterson

I think he is the only coach on the list who could get Arch Manning to come to LSU.

I like him. He'd be great for the program. I hope he gets an offer. I worry though about how he will be treated by the racist couyons that inhabit the LSU fan base. Just read some of these replies...
