re: UPDATE Quick Snake ID...bc outdoor board is dead right now

My vet this morning pretty much said that we did exactly what she would've recommended. Obviously I don't expect every doctor to give the same care plan, but it just felt like this guy was trying to get me to just hand over the credit card, no questions asked. Like when you said it was silly to just have one treatment option, that's how he was approaching it. I actually didn't even get to see him again after he stormed out if the room...the vet tech had to keep running back and forth between the two of us. Maybe he was busy, probably was. Like I said, I'm just happy that my dog is doing ok and that I feel like I didn't get hosed in the process.

That is exactly how I felt...like he was trying to play me.
But we are happy that he is doing better and I'm especially glad I didn't have to explain to my kids that their dog died this morning.

I left him at the Animal hospital last for observation and so they could run an IV. They shot him up with steroids, antibiotics, pain killers and antihistamine. Picked him up this morning, foot and leg still swollen, and brought him straight to our regular vet. They are keeping him there today and plan on releasing him tomorrow morning with a chewable antibiotic. Our vet told me this morning that she was 90% sure he was in the clear, and is more concerned with an infection at the bite site than she is the effects of the venom.
I have to say, I was a little annoyed with the vet last night at the hospital. At first he gave me a whole list of stuff that we needed to do, without even explaining what any of it really was. I asked him what my other options were and he told me that my only "option" was that we could opt for or against the antivenom. Everything else was non-negotiable. He was very rude and acted like I was a terrible person for wanting to know if there was a way we could help my dog for less than $1500. Anyway, the vet tech ended up helping me figure out a plan that ended up costing $400. That included the overnight stay, drugs, and fluid. Basically he was wanting me to do about $300 worth of blood panels and coagulation test. My vet this morning said I did the right thing...
Thanks for all your help, I really do appreciate it.

Vet is STRONGLY recommending antivenom, along with steroids, antibiotics, antihistamines, blood panel, coagulation test, and a slew of other stuff I didn't understand. Very demeaning tone, like this is my fault. I love my dog...but this sounds like it could easily break a thousand dollars.
Headed to vet now...thanks everyone, I really appreciate it.
Animal hospital on Sherwood said that was the only thing to do, anit venom. I've been reading and it sounds like he has a good chance of fighting it off, and that most vets will give something to relieve pain and reduce swelling, but not recommend anit venom.

Bit on foot...definitely swelling. Killed it with a shovel and was trying to get the dog away from it from the same time, with out getting bit myself. That picture is the result.
Just bit my dog...130lb shepard mix. Vet says anti venom is $600
Geez

Anyone have any ideas? I'm hoping not a cottonmouth. Outdoor board is dead so I'm hoping someone here might be able to tell me...
UPDATE: Just dropped my dog off at the vet. Going to treat with steroids, antibiotics, antihistamine, and run an IV for fluids until I get there to pick him up in the morning. Then off to my regular vet. The original price quoted when I initially saw the Vet was almost $1500. Final price for the above treatment was $418. Hoping to get a good report when I go pick him up...in three hours. Thanks for all the info, I appreciate it.

Called Reverse Line Movement (RLM).
Some people bet strictly on RLM. A buddy of mine did it last year and had a winning season. A couple of teams I'm looking at for RLM are 'Zona, Cent Michigan, and NFL teams Tenn, Detroit, and San Fran.
But, watch these close to game time b/c it could always change. And while Vegas wins in the long run, the public will take their share too, ala Cincy last night.

I'm sure your right...but it sure feels like the upper is steeper! Last season a buddy gave me a few tickets, I think in Sect 104, on a walking row. It was great...plenty of room for my girl to play and cheer.

Thanks for the replies...knew I could get some help here. I would love to get a good deal but don't really expect to pay under face.
My little girl will be rocking the LSU cheerleader outfit and face stickers...might work to my advantage.

I'm hoping to find tickets for a decent price on game day. I'm brining my daughter and niece and am looking for some advice on the best place to scout out some tickets. Because my daughter is only three, I'm hoping to find seats in the lower bowl...upper deck is a little steep.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! Also, any predictions on what I can expect to pay for three together?

Exactly...Les just doesn't blow teams out. Not saying its bad, just that it could be profitable this week.
