Not to mention the remote working jobs. There’s many of those now and it opens you to living in places like never before. People are tied at the hip to major cities like they once were.
Once again, you aren’t working remotely in some rural area in LA making the same salary you would be if based in some of the larger cities across the country. And the cost of living argument doesn’t offset it either.

You have no idea what you are talking about. Most companies adjust salaries based on where you are located. And Louisiana is on the lower end of the salary bands.

So this gym is a main draw for Lafayette? Guess you don’t find something like that anywhere else.

Move to Lafayette?

Lafayette and the surrounding area is definitely growing. Even noticed quite of bit of Texas tags when visited recently. What’s the draw? Stable economy with high paying medical/oilfield/tech/other jobs, cost of living etc.?

You’re right. Houston didn’t make it thru the 2020 crash. Seemed to have bounced back from that one, with most energy companies making record profits now.

Obviously you have never heard of "MAGA" tech stocks to understand the context of the OP.....

True, wasn't trying to oversell it. But you are correct.
It depends on the job. If you're writing code all day, it doesn't matter if you are sitting on your couch at home or warming a seat in the office. As long as it gets done on time.

Do y’all think it may be a bad idea to get an instrument tech degree?
Not really, you won't be stuck to just the O&G industry. Demand for automation in industrials/manufacturing will only increase.

Considering changing jobs: Oilfield to Tech

With all the layoffs happening in the O&G industry lately and the uncertain outlook on demand, would you baws consider leaving the oil patch for a job with one of the MAGA tech companies if given the opportunity? Assuming you already have a background in tech.
