Have hunted there my whole life and have never seen it look so bad. All of the inland water bodies taken over with invasive aquatics and the bature side of the levee is in rough shape after being continuously flooded for almost 2 yrs.

Truth I have hunted there my whole life as well. Duck hunting private clubs back in the day before the state bough it. Like stated above invasive aquatics and abundance of duck commanders have really put a hurting on it. Majority of the places that you could hunt are now unhuntable due to salvinia and no water this year means everybody is hunting the same areas and congested. Really and truely sad to see oh and the deer hunting sucks after the flood massacre...Dont get me started on that was a disgusting site to see and Piss poor management. Manager over it now is much much better. Havent been once this year been hunting SW LA. Maybe late December/January will go up to my camp up there.

No water should help the salvania issue to some extent.

I was going to ask about the water levels but looks like arczr2 confirmed my suspicion.

I live in Leesville so not exactly a quick drive to check and was concerned because with the river levels it seemed to me that the would water be non-existent but wasn't for sure

So they have kept it under raps but as the states deer herd is declining they have seen some of the biggest declines in Yancey. Flood and hogs supposedly. Sherburne is another one.

The RY hunt/fish facebook page stays fairly updated on reports and such.

There is definitely water to be found, whether it is covered with salvinia is a different story. We hunted opening day and shot two woodies. Only saw one group of big ducks flying over the whole morning. My recommendation would be to make a mid week hunt if you are going to give it a shot.

I appreciate the help. I'll probably make a last minute call between Dewey Wills and Yancy tomorrow morning lol
