He may not be the President you want, but is the President we need.

I take large (4 to 5 quart) plastic containers with lid and fill with water. Place two of these containers in your freezer to freeze solid. When need, place in ice chest. Stays cold longer without the mess. When you return home place the container back in freezer for next time. There is only a little moisture in the chest to be wiped out.

I donated in 1989 when the procedure was in its infancy. It is a much simpler process now. My recipient is now the longest living non-related marrow recipient in the world. She is 70 years old and going strong.

And yet you would agree with illegals flooding across the border into this country.

Casino in Markville. I thought it was my lucky day, but after an hour of blackjack I realized it was Warren Morris's lucky day.

re: What’s your worst blown moment hunting?
Posted by BadInfluence on 12/23/21 at 8:58 pm to DownSouthJukin
Changed out the scope on a Remington 742 30-06 and bore sighted before the hunt. I'm dropped off at tree stand about 3:00pm overlooking a clear-cut field. Within 20 minutes I look to my right along the tree line and there stands a nice 8pt. about 75 yds out. I place the scope on his shoulder and squeeze the trigger. The buck takes off running and I aim and shot again and dirt pops up where the bullet went over his head by inches. I look back to my right and another 8pt is standing near the same spot as the first one. I aim, shoot and the buck takes off. A third 6pt comes out as I shoot at the second one. I squeeze off a shot at the third deer. At that point I'm out of bullets. The shot over the head of the first deer must have turned him around and he was headed right under my stand with the other two deer following him. All three jump a fence no more than 15 feet from me as I sat in the stand with an empty gun. This all happened within a minute. Back at the camp I found that a screw was missing from the scope causing it to be way off target.

I have a 2014 Silverado with the 4.3. I had a 2007 Silverado with a 4.8 V8 prior to the 2014. The V8 did not pull as well as the 4.3 V6.

I have a 4.3L V6. I have had no problems. 20 MPG on avg. and 17 MPG when pulling a large bass boat. Pulls the boat like a V8.

I have watched the network news since I was a pre-teen. I will be 69 in a few weeks. Yesterday, after the networks refused to report on the Biden scandal, I said no more. I now watch Newsmax and will continue to do so.

re: Firman Generators
Posted by BadInfluence on 7/21/20 at 4:35 pm to Devenbaker
I purchased this generator from Costco when they were on sale for $599, but I have not used it yet. Three years ago I purchased a Firmin 5700 (gasoline only) with remote start that I use at my camp. It is the best generator I have ever owned. Only drawback--Made in China.

re: Any OTers here ever donated bone marrow? I got the call yesterday.
Posted by BadInfluence on 4/19/20 at 3:42 pm to liuyaming
My marrow donation over thirty years ago is the most rewarding experience of my life. My marrow recipient has lived to see her four children graduate from high school and college, marry, have kids of their own, and become very successful members of society. She is also the Longest Living Non-Related Marrow Recipient in the World (31 years).

I have a Firman and have been really pleased with it. Ordered from Home Depot. Eight gallon tank, electric start, remote start/stop. Also much quieter than a Generac.

I use noodle floats. 12' of line with 2 hooks at 8' and 12' and weighted. Bait with small pieces of hot dog marinated in garlic powder and red (Strawberry, Cherry, or Rasberry) jello mix.
Bream bite best on crickets or red wigglers. Fish close to the cypress knees.

re: Tickfaw River Fishing
Posted by BadInfluence on 6/17/19 at 1:56 pm to redfishfan
I bought a camp on the lower Tickfaw 1987 and continue to own it today. Over the years I have seen many changes in the fishing conditions. In the late 1980s and early 1990s the bass fishing was great. I caught many bass over 4 lbs. and the largest was over 6 lbs. Than Hurricane Andrew hit southwest La. and caused a considerable fish kill. The La. Wildlife and Fisheries restocked several rivers, including the Tickfaw, with thousands of Florida largemouth bass fingerlings. Damned if I know what happened to the fingerlings, but I don't think they took to the area.
Than starting in 2005 a string of hurricanes and tropical storms hit; Katrina, Gustov, Allison, Ike, Issac, to name some. All had a negative effect on the Tickfaw. Also during that time the recreation boating increased substantially. It is almost impossible to fish after 9:30am on the weekend.
On a good note, storms have decreased over the last 3 to 4 years and fishing has begun to improve. Channel catfish are very plentiful and I have caught good, sizeable catches. Bass are plentiful but small, mostly in the 1 to 2 1/2 lb. range. I believe things are improving with the huge bream and shad populations offering the larger fish a steady supply of food. Just hope Mother Nature will keep the storms at bay.
