re: What were your favorite college alternative bands from 1975 to 1985
Posted by Nolaville1 on 6/8/21 at 10:21 pm to tigers1956
I wish a 15 years old Nolaville had access to these lists of bands. I remember and still listen to many bands everyone has listed, but you had to put some time in looking for some of these acts. Somebody mentioned Mink DeVille, I only discovered them like a year ago and they are awesome.
Anyway, i'll add a few.
Big Country
Madness
Book of Love
The Rave-Ups
English Beat
General Public
Squeeze
Red Rockers
The Knack

re: How does one learn about gambling on sports?
Posted by Nolaville1 on 5/1/21 at 9:25 am to ThatsABigGeauxTigers
I have gambled pro and college football for years getting mixed results. Two years ago I started listening to the RJ Bell podcast called RJ Bells Dream Preview. His pod cast has really helped me develop strategies instead of going with my gut. His team shares a ton of stats and tips.
I think he does basketball and baseball, but I have never listed to any.

re: Who has used or knows anything about Premier pools and spas?
Posted by Nolaville1 on 1/3/21 at 9:11 am to WPsportsman
My experience with Premier pools has been completely awful. From the time I signed the contract nearly 2 years ago 'til this very day that the project is still not complete. I believe PP is a franchise and I think you would be using a different franchise than I did since I am located in NW Florida.
Anyway, here is my story. I contracted them for a pool and an outdoor kitchen/living area. Every single step of the way they delayed and pushed us off. When they finally plastered the pool they informed me that they made the pool too large and was well past the county setbacks. This took months to resolve. We had to apply for a variance.
I could go on and on about missed deadlines and lack of communication and customer service, but I think you get the picture.
What you should know is that I did not get any support or help from corporate PP. The entire experience has been a combination of incompetence only topped by their lack of caring.

re: Anyone have a steam shower?
Posted by Nolaville1 on 8/23/20 at 5:46 pm to LSUFAN2005
I have always liked taking a steam after a workout at the gym, when I have time. So, I decided to include a steam shower as part of a home reno. Two months in and I use it 3 times a week and love it.
The only drawback for me is the added cost. The system alone was around $1500. We needed to add additional tile (including the ceiling) and glass to enclose everything. Contractor also suggested a better than average exhaust fan near the shower door. Also, be sure you have a circuit that can handle the steam unit. I kept tripping the breaker and had to upgrade a breaker.
The unit we bought is called Steamist.

re: St. Charles Tavern (NOLA) Closes for Good

Because of the great location and possibly the sign I have probably eaten there once a year since the mid 90's. I wanted it to be good, but it never was.
re: Using Natural Gas for Seafood Boil

I started using NG to boil about a year ago. I love it for all the obvious reasons. The ease of use, not having to hassle with tanks and it is not nearly as loud as a propane set up. Also, I did not notice a drop in performance.
Here is a link to the rig i bought. Works great! Bayou Boiler LINK

Thanks for the heads up on the filter. I will need to check if my contractor included a filter.

Just installed a Hoshizaki brand that dispenses cubelet ice. So far I love it!

I have the Renew from Brookstone. Chair is awesome, the zero gravity setting is really relaxing.
Wife just told me she wants to get rid of the chair because we do not have room for it in our new house renovation. Let me know if you are interested?
