Looking to make a trip out of Venice this summer with a couple of guys. Would rent a room the night before.

I’ve been out on my fair share of charters. Will have some older guys with me so looking for someone who is going to be down to earth but still put us on a mess of fish.

Only answer should be Reel Shot. Jon or Brandon will put you on the best fishing trip of your life.

Reel Shot

The brothers are legit, but they stay booked up year round.
What I’ve noticed with the guides down there is there’s a handful that seem to only target redfish. Personally feel that’s not giving the clients the full experience of Venice.

I would actually say over the years it's almost the majority of the guides now that mainly target redfish only.

OP are you looking for trout, reds, or both?

The Carters (Reel Shot), Ron Price (Fish Intimidator), Anthony Randazzo, Raymond Schmidtt (Saltgrass) are guys who have been down there a long time and do both very well.

Boola (Venice Charters) and a slew of others specialize in redfish and will chase trout when the conditions are perfect for them.

If you can book a week day trip will be easier to get in with some of the better known guys. However there are also a bunch of younger newer guys that are trying to make a name for themselves down there that may fish their asses off for you. I just don't know the majority of the new guides (New being those that are new in the last 10 years there)

I personally would like to target a mix bag. The guys coming with me only like to target trout but that’s what’s so polarizing about guides in cocodrie and leeville. It’s either one or the other. I’m not saying I expect a limit of either, but to me it would be fun to target both and Venice seems like a place that this is possible.

I’ve fished with most of the ones mentioned. Brent Roy was a complete prick to my clients and I’m certain he’s ADD. Brandon Carter catches trout as good as anyone, but for overall experience and variety, Ron Price is your guy. No one works harder, and his lodging is off the chain good.

This. For a guy who has made guiding his profession, he sure doesn't seem to enjoy it.

Is there a time of year that’s best for targeting triple tail down there? Would be interested in that trip if so

I think they catch them pretty consistently from June - September

I am by no means an expert on catching them however we normally catch most of our triple tail later in the summer when it's sweltering hot.

They are around other times as I see others catch them but that's when I can figure out how to catch them.
