He's already had 3 head coaching jobs and is a multi-millionaire.
I've seen multiple posts about Wade not being in the same league as Self. You idiots do realize Wade is in his 30s? How many titles Self had at 39? Wade has been in the same league as Cal, Pearl, Barnes, Muss, etc. and winning more than them. I'm in the move on crowd at this point (it's done), but those criticizing him now that he's gone are flat wrong. Aside from Forde & Dick, it's been a great era of LSU basketball. Don't know about y'all, but I enjoy winning.......which we NEVER did this consistently. Dale Brown included.
We've already forgotten about Ben Simmons? We didn't play in the NIT. Should've fired Jones that day.
Brady didn’t have the transfer portal, so Brady.
You can’t criticize Wade on player development or older players. Players we kept for multiple years and developed - Mays, Smart, Days, E Williams, M Taylor.

Portal changes this dynamic significantly - you brought in a senior PG (Pinson). You can cut those that don’t “fit”, which Wade was doing pre portal. You don’t make 4 straight tournaments without good roster management. It was maybe Wade’s greatest strength.

If Eason wasn’t as good of a find as he was, you had no 1 and dones this season…..which have we had besides Naz?

And if you get a 1 and done, you absolutely take them. Wish we had Jabari this year.

I think MM will be good about program players. Just gotta hope he can land a blue chip to go with them every couple years or find some top guys under the radar like he did with Ja, like Wade did with Waters, Cam, and Eason.

He has been Wade’s biggest miss on not playing someone on his roster. Absolutely better than Reid. Bigger than he’s given credit for (cause he’s not his dad). Extremely athletic. Moves around the court with purpose. Doesn’t hesitate. Love that he took shots even though he knew he wouldn’t be in long. Good looking shot too. @ Arkansas he caught a rebound by his hip mid air on a dead play and windmill dunked it…..Reid couldn’t even start to think about doing that. I honestly don’t understand why he didn’t play. Rebounded, blocked, and finished at the basket. He was huge in the @ Florida win and home A&M wins (where he actually got minutes). Only negative was some careless fouls. Reid, Mwani, and Eason had careless fouls every game.
Hated to see the court named after him. Not earned. Did well enough to stay, but not to have something named after him. Would rather see it named for Shaq due to his earned success.

“It didn’t look good,” Knight said. “In fact, my assistants had just about given up, and so had I. Then I looked down toward the other bench, and I saw Dale Brown standing there. I knew then that we had a chance.”
The number of people saying Wade was average is astonishing. Does anyone know where Self was when he was 39?! He’s 59. Wade is 39!!!!! Has had the best conference record while he’s been in charge and it includes an SEC title. He only has 1 tourney win cause he only coached in one and got screwed on seeding in it. How old is Cal? Pearl? Muss? Barnes? He’s already in their league and hasn’t been at it near as long. What also isn’t average is his scheduling. Woodward’s previous hire Buzz didn’t schedule well enough to go to the dance.
I’m pretty surprised to hear some LSU fans say Wade underperformed, he was alright, etc….but they are LSU fans and sports fans. Best sec program during his tenure. I’m repeating that, best sec program while he’s been the coach. I’m not going research this, but if someone has a better record in this timeframe it’s by a small margin. Only missed the tournament his 1st year (and that year was still exciting). 4 out of 5 years. That’s 4 straight folks. People in their 20s haven’t been alive for LSU basketball to have done that.

His 3 best players were missed by big schools - Waters, Cam Thomas, Eason

He competed on big players - Smart, Naz, Watford

He developed players - Mays, E Williams, Smart, Days

He found uniquely talented supporting players - Bigby Williams, M Taylor, Gaines

He was going to be great with the portal - Eason, Pinson

His players played hard. Having been the following act to the Ben Simmons experiment and watching the lack of effort and them literally quit…..it was really enjoyable to watch Wade’s teams play hard consistently and to see an engaged, enthusiastic coach.

All Malone does is weak foul. I don't have problems with him fouling as a bench player, but would much rather see him be the most aggressive player on the team while he's out there. If I'm Jones, I'm not happy if I see him foul and the ball even has a chance at a 3 point play.

Elbert Robinson III

Did we expect him to be a contributor this season?

Wouldn't mind seeing him or Odo get some PT. Malone is an And One machine......for the opponent.
We've had potential tournament rosters every year with Jones. People act like he's built us to this point, but I still have dissapointment in the previous years. Hamilton and O'Bryant play in the NBA. Not Europe or anywhere else. The NBA. 2 NBA post players and no tourney. Carmouche, Coleman, Hickey, Stringer, and Turner were all legit college basketball players. I think if Turner had stayed it would have been a big difference the past 2 years, same with Hickey for this year.

For this year's team, I thought Robinson was an instant contributor/great recruit. Anyone know the story on him?

Also, I like the potential of Epps. Wish he saw a few more minutes.

Weren't the students offered free hot dogs? They may need to do that on the reg. Having a full (or significant) student section is what will get the place going. It did that night. Student section has been weak sauce for at least 5 years.
