If you can learn to sharpen them using a bench grinder you can save a bunch of $.
YouTube videos for days and it's not that hard....

Called the 1 800 directv number the first time and got a mean foreign chick who wasn't giving up anything. Just called the direct number 18007783397 and got 50$ off a month for a year....

I'm a manual machinist at a big plant and love it, I would try my hardest to get on with a plant if I were you. You can avoid all the layoffs that the small outside shops go through.
Money wise, I know some machinist that make over 150k/yr....
