Georgia, Florida To Each Earn $7.5 Million Due To Location Change Of Annual Rivalry Game

According to the Athens Banner-Herald, Georgia and Florida will each earn $7.5 million for their 2026 game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta while Jacksonville’s EverBank Stadium undergoes major construction work.

Because traditions still matter to some people. I can't imagine this game not being in Jacksonville no more than Texas-OU not being in the cotton bowl. Texas playing in Norman just doesn't sound right. Hell, I still haven't gotten used to the Iron Bowl being on Campus.

UF and UGA playing their annual game in Jax is a vestige of a long ago time when teams traveled by train to their opponent's campus. Both Athens and Gainesville were long trips to reach directly for the teams and traveling fans. Hence, both schools agreed to take the train and meet-up in Jacksonville. And the tradition was born.
