We are going skiing in Southern Utah in 3 weeks and we have a free day to go to one of these parks. Which of these is worth a day trip over to see in late February?

I would take Zion any time of year but especially in February.

Bryce Canyon sucks compared to Zion. Even if you don't have much time go to Zion.

Zion is a Top 5 National Park.

That’s subjective. It’s beautiful but it’s small and it’s hard to get away from the crowds.

The heck it is. The crowds suck because the place is awesome.

Zion is worlds nicer overall, but Bryce is better for a day trip.

The crowds alone make the place less enjoyable. I’m jaded living where I do. But as an overall experience, visiting Zion is like visiting a theme park nowadays.

North Cascades
Glacier
Great Sand Dunes
Capitol Reef
Olympic
Great Basin

Those are my top 6 favorite outside of Alaska. I’ve never been to Yosemite, but I’ve been to 30.

Zion is the Walmart of Utah national parks. Paved trails wide enough for handicapped, countless people who've been suckered into renting hiking sticks they absolutely don't need. Pretty sure there was a guy nodding off on heroin my last bus ride.

Great to see people talking up Brian's head. We camped just south of there at point supreme. About 10,500 up. Definitely snowed late September. Place was amazing. Not where I wanted to learn to drive the RV we rented though Winding roads and was windy af. If you catch the right lunar cycle, sky is just staggeringly beautiful at night.

Totally agree. People who rank Zion high are the same types who enjoy going to Six Flags. It’s purely a tourist park full of families and wannabe outdoorsy posers.

I’ve yet to see the Mighty 5, but I’m going this summer. For me it’s:

Yosemite

Yellowstone

Everything else.

Of course I haven’t seen the Alaska parks either, so that’s subject to change.

Glacier

We did Glacier and Yellowstone this summer and they were incredible. I've never seen a place like Glacier in my life. I'm hoping to make it up to Acadia in the next couple of years.

Bryce Canyon must do hikes if I only have a day?

Queen's Garden/Navajo Loop combo?

any others hikes?

anything non-hiking to do?

Definitely. And if you can do it early morning, before it starts getting crowded, it’s even better. I made the wife and kids get up and watch the sunrise over the amphitheater and then we did this hike. Hardly anyone on the trail early morning, but that changed quickly.

There is literally nothing around Bryce. There are other places to hike/explore outside the park. We ate lunch in Panguitch but there is not much there.
