What are your must-see places and must-eat places?

Are you big into fine dining or no? Do you just want to hit the sites or are you hoping to get a bit of a local scene?

Personally, I would grab reservations at Le Coucou and pick one Broadway show of your choosing to start.

Yeah, let me add some parameters

We have concert tickets both nights, so no shows or fine dining.

Hit the sights. Even the ultra-tourist stuff is fine for this trip.

9/11 memorial tour. But be prepared to not be happy when you leave.

Walk around Little Italy and grab some pizza for lunch.

Grab a drink at Dead Rabbit.

You can do 9/11 Memorial, Statue, and Wall Street Bull in one swoop while down there.

Central Park, Trump Tower, Rockafeller, Empire State, Broadway are all within walking distance. Can do all of those within half a day.

Top of rock one night. Walk halfway across Brooklyn Bridge. Ellis Island Central Park, dinner at Carmine’s before you take in a show. Have fun

Empire State Building but it's expensive to see everything there.

Book a food tour. That's been our favorite thing to do. They last about 3 hours (usually noon -3p). You get a tour or a neighborhood. Do either Greenwich Village or Little Italy.

I'm going to get roasted for this - but get tickets for a double decker bus tour.

You'll get to see lots of stuff and it will help to orient you in the city.

Do that for a couple of hours, get the lay of the land and then go about your day.

I would say spend a day in Lower Manhattan all these things are down there.

9/11 Museum/Memorial
Charging Bull
Trinity Church (Was closed last time I was there)
Freedom Hall
New York Stock Exchange
Battery Park
Statue of Liberty
Ellis Island

This. Walk across the Brooklyn bridge and back. Take the Staten Island ferry and back for great views of the city. I would do Top of the Rock and Central Park another day. I would advise not staying in Midtown, go to lower Manhattan to get away from the crowds.

We did something similar in Chicago about 15 years ago. I think it was a 4 hour tour or so. Forget where it started, but it ended at Navy Pier around mid afternoon so we hung out there for a bit then took the train back to the hotel that night.

When we landed in New York, after getting checked into the hotel, we hit Times Square that afternoon just because we were staying there. I think we had 3 or 4 nights there, so not as rushed trying to see things. Ended up seeing Wicked, Central Park, Rockefeller center, several different restaurants. It was a fun trip, but you could spend a month there and still not take it all in. Find out what you want to do and try to plan a couple of things, but I hate trying to stick to any sort of schedule when on vacation.
