Bus service is like Zion? You can drive king/Sequioa?
You can drive most of it but to see Moro Rock and the tree that fell over and you can walk through you need to walk(far)/bike/or take a shuttle bus. You want to see this part of the park. General Sherman is the other area but you park and walk it.
Sierras had an incredible winter, check roads to see what is open when you go if this trip is before mid july.

big oak flat entrance 2hr 15 minutes drive.
Staying at the oak hurst lodge for Yosemite. It’s in oakhurst. 30minute drive to South Gate.
You are going to miss the Tioga area sounds like. Be ready to get to the park early or wait in line.
We went in 2021 and waited 2 hours at the south gate in August after arriving at 8am. They were doing reservations then also.

Joshua Tree worth the drive? Might not ever have another chance.
I think so. When else are you going to back in that area?

This is a hell of a haul with the family.... will be great memories if yall are able to pull it all off.
Like many had said in previous posts... I would focus on getting all you can out of the natural stuff... a nice break in the action from some of the hikes etc with the things yall have planned, but most of Big Sur and some of these other areas are best seen by the small hikes or detours....
also, I didn't pay attention to when yall are traveling but make sure HWY 1 is open. I do know they were still doing repairs on it and it was NOT clear to drive all the way south.

This isn't awful, if you can't stay in the park. I know how hard it is to get reservations, but I would say keep trying for cancellations and you have to do single days at a time. It is fabulous to stay in the park.
Also, that 30 minute drive can be much longer depending on the time of day. May sure you get started very early every day. The park is crazy busy in the summer. I would be in the park no later than 7 am.

Skip Disney Land and spend more time in Tahoe. Go to Louie's and get Basque food in Reno.

Sounds like a great trip and you are covering a lot of ground. We have done pretty much the same trip but it was done over 4 vacations with a Reno/Tahoe, NoCal, Socal and San Diego version.
As many here have said the more time in Yosemite the better. Its the one NP I really want to return to again.
Have Fun

It's a good idea to stay in Oakhurst. If you are willing to consider doing an additional day in Yosemite you would have time to spend at Bass Lake which is just another 15 minutes east of Oakhurst. Rent a boat and enjoy the weather and water. You can eat at The Pines for a nicer dinner. The Great Outdoors was filmed there for reference. Coming down the hill I'd stop and eat at Heirloom in Fresno. We go there fairly frequently. It's locally owned and is pretty darn good. It is just off of the 41 at the Friant exit.
For your stay in Three Rivers I'd check and make sure that road conditions and your lodging are in the clear. That community was heavily damaged in the flooding a couple months back.
The Giant Sequoias should be seen. You can also make a trip to Hume Lake which does run summer camps but they have food to replenish yourselves.
Are you planning on taking the 152 or 198 to get to the 101 & eventually over to Big Sur? If you're taking the 152 across I'd go up towards Watsonville and stop at Gizdich Farms for some homemade pies, lunch and apple cider. There is a picnic area and it is family friendly for sure. There is a huge U-Pick farm where you'll be able to get your own berries if you want. Phil's in Moss Landing is good for seafood with beach access and I think there is live music too. Check out Point Lobos for a fairly easy hike with a lot of scenic views for pictures. Mountain Lions have been seen there on occasion but just be aware of your surroundings.

Really? The others on your list are places everyone should see but Great Basin? I went two years ago and would not go out of my way to go again.

I think you may be severely under-estimating your drive time to all these places. It takes longer than it should to get around the parks in the north and driving from OC to SD could be a nightmare.
Y’all are going to spend your whole vacation in the car.
I would break this trip into 2…do the LA, SD stuff this time…(plenty to do in both cities, then come back for the northern part.

Will be driving from palm desert to San Diego. Is that a bad drive?
Talks to Big Sur hwy people and we will not be able to make trip from Monterey to San Simeon. Plan is to leave sequoia and go to the ragged point inn. Stay the night and then head south.
Thoughts?

I still don't understand why you are driving all the way out there. I assume you are going from Disney/the concert to Joshua Tree? You are looking at 2 hours, minimum. But any LA traffic is horrible and takes a lot longer than you think. You can see these trees without driving all that way. Spend more time in the San Diego area and see the Zoo, Balboa Park, the USS Midway Museum, La Jolla Cove, etc.
I think you will see Joshua trees along your drive.
