Valley has some food places. But, you need to bring your own food for the most part.

We are going in June , staying in Yosemite west. Everyone I’ve talked to says bring your own food in to cook at night. Nothing great in the valley, but, will do for a quick lunch.

The Wawona hotel (in the park) dining room was very good.

The Wawona dining room is not a cafeteria. That is the name of the restaurant. Fish, steaks, chicken, etc... it was very good.

June Bug Cafe is about 45 min away but probably the closest place not in the park and definitely the best meal you'll find within an hour from the park.

Eat at the Ahwahnee dining room once -- beautiful setting. Otherwise, I just ate at the food court in curry village or nearby pizzeria. I felt like it added to the ambiance of a "summer camp" experience myself. I was there for hiking and the beauty of the park, not fine dining.

We are hitting a Walmart pickup order on the way in to save some time.

Are food trucks not allowed in the NP? Just thinking about this, but the restaurants in the National Parks all pretty much are average at best. I'm curious why no one brings a food truck in? Would be fantastic places like Yellowstone and Yosemite, among others.

The pizza was quite good when we went a couple of years ago, but the wait was crazy long...an hour or more from waiting in line to getting food.

The Ahwahnee dining room experience hasn't recovered from COVID yet. Read the recent Trip Advisor reviews. It's just plain old take out food that they let you eat in the dining room. I'm sure it's seriously overpriced and not that good. But certainly take the time to walk about the hotel and grounds.

I believe food service at most parks is contracted out to someone like Aramark. UGH. Food trucks in the Yosemite Valley would really not be good. There's way too much traffic there normally when the park is busy. In fact, many of our parks have shuttles that run through the park because parking and traffic is so limited.

Certainly but many also have big parking lots in certain areas. I certainly agree with not allowing them to go just anywhere, but I don't see why allowing them in an area with adequate parking would be an issue?

At one point there was a huge government/ military contract to I believe Aramark but it may have been someone else to take over a lot of otherwise smaller contracted food services in order to have "wartime ready" staffing. I believe they lost a lot of their overseas contracts so they were replaced with a lot of domestic contracts to maintain the same amount of staff.
