This. As a mom in my 40s, let me echo this.

She's turning 40, having had kids young and still being in throes of raising young kids. Take her to Broadway. Trust me that one of the biggest parts of the gift will be planning her #1 vacation choice when NYC would be way down on your own list. That sacrifice is a big gift in itself.

P.S. Good on you for planning a surprise trip. That's awesome.

I for one live New York City. There is just so much to do and I think the city is going to be popping over the next year. Even if Broadway isn’t back there a thousand different worthwhile things to see and do in and around NYC.

Totally agree. NYC is amazing, imo. So many great places to eat and drink, so many different museums and cultural experiences, walk the High Line, spend half a day wandering through Central Park, etc.

If Broadway isn't an option, Shakespeare in the Park is probably happening.

Santa Fe

Some of the best dining, art, outdoors, spas, cultural stuff in the country.

NYC should be your #1 if Broadway shows are open, but Santa Fe isn't a bad alternative.

I would agree under normal circumstances. However, “Broadway” is scheduled to slowly open in September. And who knows what can happen between now and then, what’s going to be required, vaccine passport, etc. I don’t want to have the disappointment or jumping through hoops. We can do Broadway another time.

I’m liking Sedona or a luxury resort with a Smokey Mountain background, just not as expensive as Blackberry Farm.

Keep the ideas coming. I’m sure I’ll have questions as I hone down the choice. Thanks again.

Just had a friend get back from Vegas, and he hated it. He's been several times and said currently, it's not a good time to go.

I’m interested in knowing why? I’m going to Vegas in 2 weeks for a bachelor party.
