Restaurants, Bars, Nightlife? We rented a beautiful home for the week. Looks like a great vacation spot.

September will be nice. The Yankees will still be up north so it will be relatively quiet.

The water and sand are on par with Destin.

Take the drive (20 minutes) to St Armand’s circle. Good shopping and restaurants.

The food is ok, but not bad. The sandbar is decent and great sunset dining. Ginny and James has a good breakfast. Beach house has a good lunch. Mara Vista on longboat key is one of our favorites. Shore is also a decent spot.

The Wringling brothers museum in Sarasota is surprisingly good and great on a rainy day.

Starfish Seafood in Cortez is always good - cash only.

Beach House restaurant where Cortez Road meets Gulf Drive has been good too.

Gulf Drive Cafe north of that same intersection has good breakfasts.

Town of Anna Maria is at north end of Island. Nice little pier on sound side.

Holmes Beach is where Manatee Avenue meets Gulf Drive.

Entire Island is good for biking and walking, esp at the little towns (Anna Maria, Holmes Beach, Bradenton Beach).

Coquina Beach is a nice long walk as well and is at the south end by Longboat Key.

Columbia Restaurant on St Armand's Circle is famous and a good place to east. Drive down Longboat Key to Lido Key/St Armand's is a nice drive. Lots of $$$ down that way.

I grew up in the area but sure has changed.

Great place my mom lived there for a while. That traffic to and from the island sucks though if you're trying to get to Manatee for anything.

Third on Star Fish, but be warned you are literally sitting at a picnic table on a dock. Not that there is anything wrong with that but don't get all dressed up and think you are going to a fancy place. You get your food in a paper box and eat amongst bird crap. But really the food was great.

The food really is good. Picture eating on the dock in Delacroix, Venice or Grand Isle while shrimp boats are unloading and thats exactly what this place looks like.

Watch the sunset from the roof of The Daiquiri Deck and get the mahi sandwich. It was so good that we went there twice.

The Daiquiri Deck

I was really surprised at this place. We sat at the one at St Armands for an entire cold rainy day in Jan watching playoff football and had a blast. Food was surprisingly good for what I thought was a tourist trap.
