I’m wanting to go on vacation with my parents this fall along with my wife. They’re in the low 60’s. I have to use Delta E Credits before the end of the year and we have narrowed it down to Iceland, Ireland (the original destination that got cancelled to Covid), Hawaii, and Alaska. Which of these destinations would you recommend for a trip with my parents?

When is "fall"? I wouldn't take parents to Iceland in October, and probably not to Alaska either.

Outside of Hawaii, all of those sound cold in late Fall, early fall you should be fine. I'd look at Lisbon, Barcelona, Tuscany if going later in the fall

It kind of depends on what kind of people you are.

I'd tell Hawaii to F-off immediately. There's almost nothing there that can't be seen in Central America/Caribbean for way too much flying.

Iceland, everyone knows what they're going to get. Leaning in.

Ireland, if your fam likes people, and stories, hands down, wins the day. Dublin is a bit too EU, but if you're using Delta, you're probably flying into SNN anyway. If anyone in your fam doesn't like to talk about... anything, then avoid. There was a thread on the Dingle Peninsula last week. Sights can be amazing, but even if you're going in the fall, sitting in a pub talking to people you just met around a peat fueled fire... Awesome.

Alaska, me no have info. But has to better that Hawaii.

Are your parents active?
Can they function?
Do they like or have to plan every minute?

Are their miles paying for part of your trip?

Do you love your wife?

Mobile says a lot. I'm asking OP questions to understand things, but like I said, there are different locations, given the timing, and given what they prefer in vacations, that impact their decision.

But I read the post, unlike you and at least one other poster.

He's flying Delta, so paying with miles or not, he's probably landing in Shannon, which I already stated (because I've flown that exact flight). I *specifically* asked what kind of peeps they were, and what they wanted, but you blew by that, TikTok boy.

It's sad that I'm more sober than you are at this time. This is a one page thread (as I write this) and you can't read..one page.

Do I want to go to the Med in early fall? Probably not, because the reason most people go to the Med (sun) is out. Maybe they want to go to car races, gamble, no idea. FFS, let OP tell us what he wants. A vacation with parents in the fall is weird. I'd like to know more, just like I wouldn't have flown to Ireland in the winter until I saw a thread here. F it, why not? OP is doing unique things. Never, ever, going to hate on that.

If you hit Ireland, I can drive the Nissan tiny car to the sights you want to visit, as long as you're OK with someone that drives stick like a redneck. Any chance to hit IE, I'm in. Especially with "wizened" folks (I'm trying not to call your parents old,) the Craic is exactly what most old folks want. Love, love, love the ROI.

You just don't give enough info here. I'm 61 and I'd like any of those trips. I'm very active and would want to do all the things. But weather wise, Ireland would probably be best and sounds like y'all had wanted to do that trip anyway. I would not do Alaska in the fall. May-Sept is Alaska season and I think Sept can still be cold.
