Take the ferry to North Caicos. Rent a car. Drive across the causeway to Middle Caicos. Go to Bambarra Beach. If it's low tide you can walk about a mile out. Head over to Dragon Caye. It's a rock formation in the shape of a dragon at the prettiest little beach you've ever laid eyes on. If the tide is out you can walk out to Dragon Caye and explore it. Bring water shoes. It's a jagged rock formation. Then head over to Daniel's for lunch. The father goes fishing in the morning and his son serves up fried fish, rice and beans and plantains along with ice cold beer for lunch. Then head back over the causeway to North Caicos for the ferry ride back to Providenciales.

Yep. That's a day and a very fun day at that. IF you have the camera for it there are some great flamingo photos to be had on Middle Caicos.

Damn. That is sad to see. It was a great lunch spot. There’s a restaurant on the bluff at Dragon Caye that can be a substitute for lunch. Restaurant is at Mudjin Harbor at the top of the bluff. Incredible spot.

Somewhere Cafe...best nachos I’ve ever had. Great lunch spot at a small reef you can snorkel

Mamy good recommendations so far I'll add Da conch shack looks to be back open. Good local food and a fun evening of drinking listening to bands.

The Thursday fish fry was also fun, not sure if it's all year or just part of it.

Taylor bay beach is pretty cool as well. You can walk out an extremely long way.

1. Do a half-day snorkel and conch cruise with Caicos Dream Tours. Most of the people in our group picked it as the highlight of the trip.
2. Snorkel at Coral Gardens. You can park at the resort. The reef is right off shore with good coral, fish, turtles, etc.
3. Thursday night fish fry at the public beach at the Bight. Another highlight.
4. You must eat at Da Conch Shack. Wednesday night is live music and the best.
5. Eat at the Cabana Bar & Grill at Ocean Club Resort for either breakfast or lunch. Good food, great setting, and the resort is situated on a really nice spot on Grace Bay.
6. If you have a little money to spend, invite Chef Tadd Frye to come cook in your home. His food and service were amazing

I posted that in an earlier thread based on our trip this past April. We stayed at Impulse Beach Villa in the Bight area.

We liked Mr. Groupers, Kalooki's and Bugaloos. Island Vibes snorkeling tour was fun. Went to Iguana Island. Drive over to Taylor Bay Beach (Careful where you park! Not much private access.)

This just popped up on my news feed

The bone fishing there is truly spectacular if you are an angler. It takes some effort to get to North/Middle Caicos and/or quite a bit of money for a good guide but it's a fun deal. Most of Providenciales is protected reef and you are not allowed to fish it.

The reef right off Grace Bay by Somewhere Cafe' (Gansevoort/Windsong area) is fun to snorkel and accessible for little ones.

Bay Bistro is a damned good restaurant. Coco Bistro is an outstanding restaurant if you can get a reservation. Mango Reef was very good in the past but they changed locations a couple of years ago and I can't vouch for it at the new location.

i'm heading to TCI in march, staying in a villa on taylor bay in provo.

we were looking at doing a day trip to north/middle caicos via ferry, but some of the tripadvisor reviews are not too favorable. broken down rental cars, beaches full of seaweed and fleas, and closed shops don't sound too appealing. i get the appeal of an undeveloped island and huge beaches all to oneself - but some of these reviews have me thinking twice.

With the hurricanes the past two years sargassum has been a huge problem throughout the Caribbean. Mudjin Harbor is sheltered by a reef and by Dragon Caye so I'd say that the chance of seaweed there is slim. Bambarra Beach might be another matter as it's a very large beach and doesn't have the protection of Mudjin Harbor.

Rental cars in the Caribbean are always clunkers. I don't remember renting a car on an island that didn't have at least one warning light on. It's just what you get down there. That said, we've never been stranded and we've rented cars all over the Caribbean and Mexico.

You don't go to Middle Caicos to shop. Only 300 people live there. You go there for the beauty of the beaches and to get off the beaten trail.

I hope this helped.

We did a half-day trip with Caicos Dream Adventures and everyone loved it. We snorkeled and saw a shark (lots of sharks in T & C), got some fresh conch, and visited a nearby island with a beautiful empty beach and lots of iguanas. We had grandparents to toddlers and everyone loved it.

Did they rinse the conch shells in the water to call the lemon sharks? They’re very cool and harmless but they love conch.
