Any that you know of?
For me the whole wearing shorts as I've found that shorts are really common overseas. Now jorts and cargo shorts no, but a nice pair of shorts are no problem.

People know if your a tourist regardless because of your phone, taking pictures, every time you speak, etc... But shorts is not a sign that you are a tourist to me.

Yes but euros wearing shorts is a recent development. Not too long ago shorts did peg you as a tourist. I'm not sure I can name anything specific that says tourist now with social media creating the One World look.

I mean I know a few years ago people wearing shorts were everywhere in Belgium. Even in smaller areas like Dinant, Leige, and Namur.

I saw a ton last year in Portugal and all I brought was khaki pants so I wouldn't look like a local

A Nashville truism used to be that only tourists wore cowboy hats, boots, and asked for autographs. It's now a myth because so many damn transplants ruined the rule.

I don’t mind being seen as a tourist when traveling at times. After all, I am a tourist. And depending on the location, they sometimes love Americans. My LSU/Saints shirt usually gives me away anyhow.

But I very rarely wear shorts in public outside of the gym visits. Regardless of the country.

Call me old fashion, but a man wears pants/jeans when outside the house and always has enough cash to get out of any problem.

Cash may peg you as a tourist in many parts of Europe since many countries are on track to be cashless in the next 10 years or so.

By recent I meant the last 10 years or so. Basically whenever those mens knicker/capris pants became popular they transitioned to shorts right after that.

I dont use the cash often. Just like to have it in case of emergency. But I like to have currency in the country I am traveling to before I land

Any observant person can peg you as a tourist if you dress like a lot of us do.

I mean, european polos and button downs don't look like Brooks Brothers or Peter Millar. A lot of our tailored clothing is very different, even in an age of slimmer American cuts. You can pretty easily spot casually dressed Europeans in the US. A dude wearing worn black jeans and strange looking black sneakers with a tight button down just sticks out in most US cities. I assume my stuff looks similarly off over there.

Now, plenty of people here and there aren't observant, and more importantly, don't care anyway. There is a big difference between people taking note of you being a tourist because you're blocking a walkway in cargos and a t shirt, and someone who if asked to speculate about you could probably make you as an American.

Guess I'm not a real man. In these summer days where it is 99 with a heat index of 106, I dont wear long pants to go to the grocery store or go to a casual restaurant. Nice shorts do exist.

Yikes! We had the park to ourselves when we were there. The tour groups were leaving as we went in late in the day and we saw maybe 5 people the entire time we were in there.

My penchant for wearing fishing shirts definitely gave away my nationality while in Europe.

The one thing that screams tourist is taking pictures of everything you see.

LOL! Couple of notes on that:

We were there in October, so a little less touristy that time of year.

We'd researched enough on travel forums to know that the hoards show up from buses from Zagreb a little past noon. We got there a little before the park opened in the morning at 8am. Still people queuing up to buy the tickets then, not the Asian Hoards. Trails weren't very crowded on the lower lakes. BUT, by the time we got up near the upper lakes, around noon, BAM! Not just Asians, although they tend to travel more in packs. Tons of buses dropping off passengers. Pays to get their first thing.
