What's your time frame for the trip?

Food:

Birmingham is a really good food town. It's not like New Orleans that has its own brand/style of food, but we have a lot of very good places to go.

Activities:

Depends on the time frame and your interests. Give us some more direction.

Indoor go-karting at Autobahn, top golf, McWane center if younger kids
If you have older more Woke kids, take them downtown and throw shite through windows and start fires. The mayor can give you pointers.

Lots of good food, but many places are struggling with under staffed conditions so that can be frustrating when on a tight schedule between games.

I was born in Ensley Highlands and lived there until white flight occurred. All my people were from the Central Park area. I’ve often considered buying the old home places and restoring them for rentals in the hopes that the areas will come back, but I’m not sure that’ll ever happen.

Spoiler: it won't.
Ensley is one of the few places where the murder rate exceeds the employment rate.

Some jokes about Easley here already, but if you’re in town for baseball a trip to the Easley area to Rickwood Field would be worth your time. I’ve gone out there several times and never had a problem. The Negro League Baseball Museum there is pretty interesting. I think there are self guided tours of the stadium. It’s the oldest baseball stadium in the country and has been used for several movies.

Absolutely, which is why I asked about his time frame and interests. Maybe he will swing back by and give us some more information.

You can go to the Vulcan statue and ride the elevator to the top to look over the whole area.

It's a little bit out of town, but Barber Motorsports Museum is pretty awesome. Barber Motorsports

As a kid, my family would go there to eat at the Ensley Grill. Now, I would hesitate to drive thru there during daylight.

shite like that breaks my damn heart. Makes we want to drive down there and see what the guy needs. I hate throwing money at problems, but I'm more than willing to cut grass, grade fields, paint stuff.

But to answer your question, Rickwood Field hosts baseball tournaments and a Barons game every year. It's not Wrigley Field by any means, but the playing field is very well kept. If you are a baseball fan, going to Rickwood is like going to Wrigley or Fenway. Some of the greatest players of all time walked that field.

When I was a student at Bama, I had a class project that I did on baseball history. I came up to Rickwood Field, and I arrived one afternoon just to take some pics of the outside of it, but the main gate was wide open. I walked right in, walked around the stands, walked out on the field, etc. Never saw a single person the hour or so I was there. Pretty cool to have it to myself for that hour. This was around 95 or so, and I don't think they were hosting many games there. Field was in pretty bad shape.

Last time I went to the Rickwood Classic there, we were able to go up on the roof of the press box(I think maybe it was the old press box?). There were a handful of other people up there.

Obligatory pic. The gazebo looking thing is where we were able to go to. Not sure if they still allow people up there.

I am in Birmingham at the Redmont once a month. I don’t know of activities, but I can give you a long list of places to eat.
